So, I was walking my dog and all of a sudden.....
I took my dog for a walk on the beach about an hour ago. Everything was normal for the first .5 miles, then I noticed a silhouette dart from the dunes back into the plantation. I didn't think much of it, between the dog and my .357 I can handle a wannabe burglar/mugger in these parts. At this time of night, I have a pretty clear view of the sky over MCAB Beaufort and I notice a chopper getting up IN A HURRY. Then I noticed it was coming my way, this is a little unusual as the residents b!tch and moan if they start doing night ops over the island too often. Then it turns it's spotlight on and starts sweeping the beach about .5 miles up. It finally gets to me and holds over me for several seconds before switching the spotlight off and hauling a$$ back. I decided to turn back at this point and as I'm turning I notice 3 figures on the back side of the dunes near a row of the more expensive homes in the plantation. I'm a little weirded out right now.

Dog inside, doors and windows locked. Exterior lights on - lit up like a Christmas tree. Keep the gun.
Stuff like that weirds me out and 3 bad guys can get desperate in a big hurry. angela

That would be my normal inclination if it weren't for the chopper that was very obviously looking for me. I think I intruded upon someone's security comfort zone.
I've seen caravans of black tahoe's in the plantation before, but I didn't think it was this serious. |

Gads! Memories of the time a murderer was loose in my neighborhood. Turned the neighborhood into a ghost town for days...Luckily, all the neighbors know each other. So, no panic when we'd pick up mail, feed animals, etc. fully armed.

I'd heard about Bill in PD, but I'm in Port Royal Plantation. There are a few big names I know of in here, but none that rate that kind of security.

Haven't called anyone.
The first guy I thought might have been up to no good and I was planning to call our plantation gestapo when I got back home (no cell phone, wouldn't have mattered anyway, ATT sucks) My best guess is that they were secret service, though I guess it's possible Erik Prince has a house here and those were his boys. |

Any chance it was military boys meeting up with girlfriends/available companions for some late night hanky panky in the dunes? I've known women that'd be impressed by arrival in a chopper! Or a clean pick up truck!

When I was working at the Grand Canyon, we had a fugitive in the area for a few weeks. I was riding my mountain bike one day, and at one point a helicopter closed in on me, with guns out the hatch.
Needless to say I got off the bike and put my hands high in the air as I looked up and waved. That seemed to satisfy them. |
