Could this be a drug drop?

I live in a fairly normal tract in Fountain Vally Ca. There is a city park about 300 ' down at the end of my street. I walk my dog to the park every day. Theres no gangs or particularly weird people that frequent the park so I wouldn't be especially suspicious but now I 'm beginning to wonder. For a total of 5 times now over a few weeks I have seen people that are not from the neighborhood pull up and park at one particular spot at a corner of the park. One was this crack head looking women, another time it was 2 young guys in a Bronco. A women looked to be in her forty's with a younger guy and so on. The get out of the car and go to one spot and start searching the bushes, lifting limbs and peeking to the dark areas of the junipers.. One young man even unscrewed one of the caps on the fire plug and looked into the cavity. I checked other fire plugs in the area and none other had caps you could unscrew with your hand. The other night about 10 pm I took my dog out front for a final pee before going to bed and noticed flashlights at the same corner of the park. Four people in the dark searching that same spot. These are not people that were at the park and came back to find a ball or something lost. This is not even a part of the park where people play ball or picnic.
I am just old and suspicious or is something going on? Perhaps I have just watched to many CSI reruns.

geocaching? I do this every once in a while, it is kind of interesting for the kids as well. If you have a GPS look at this site.

This may be the one. I think it is in the fire hydrant.

Thanks John, that is not the same park but you may be on to something. The thought crossed my mind that it may be some sort of a scavanger hunt but not one that had GPS overtones.
I thought I might go down and put one of those spring loaded fake snakes in the fire plug for the unsuspecting druggy or cacher but then decided I didn't want a fire man with a heart attack on my permenent record.

I'm willing to bet crackheads don't do much geocaching.

This is the park in question. The activity takes place in the extreme northeast corner.

Well thats the exact spot I have observed. What a load off my mind that my neighborhood hasn't turned into a drug hang out. I hope the "Cachers" realize my dog pees all over that corner, its his favorite spot. Wash your hands well after searching that spot.

There's a geocache spot across from my house. I got really mad because I thought that it was some kind of dope-fiend drop until my neighbor and I found the box and looked in it.

I even took my camera with me on several walks so I could get evidence of the perps for when I called the police.

I suppose you could put one in front of someones house for fun! Like an Altoids box with a magnet stuck to a cable box or some other easement.

when i first got my gps for hiking a few years ago, i tried geocacheing a few times. there was supposed to be one at a trail in a park near me. but all they gave were clues and not the exact coordinates...never found it. lost interest in the hobby.

then this summer i was out walking the dog on the same trail and practically tripped of over the box of goodies. went back to the website and only half the clues made sence. i almost was tempted to post the coordinates in frustration.
