Local Judge sentenced

Here's the story:

http://www.katu.com/news/local/56683457.html

So, my question to the legal minds here...how would this have an effect on past judgements?

This guy should be savagely beaten in a public setting, drawn, quartered, and his remains fed to alligators.

As an example to crooked Judges and DA's everywhere.

He was a prosecutor for the county D.A. for 30 years before becoming a small town judge. Sure makes me wonder about possible wrongdoings in his past...his work in what is called a "justice system". (edit) The sentence seemed damned light to me. Probably because of all his past "good service"?

We keep hearing about some "higher standard" to which judges, law officers, and others within our legal system are held. Yet every time they are caught taking advantage of their positions of authority to break the law, their punishment seems nothing if not lighter than what the rest of us would receive for the same offense. What exactly is this "higher standard", then?

I think there should be an additional mandatory minimum sentence for public officials who break the law while in office. Be it a judge, cop, congressman, or whatever - we need to put some teeth behind this "higher standard". We have mandatory minimums for gun crimes in many areas; we should have the same in cases like this. Something like a minimum of ten years, no parole, for violating the public trust.

YES!!!!! and GPS's on all Cops & Judges cars! If they break the speed limit they should have to pay 2X the cost of a regular ticket!

possible bias (my answer even tho I am officially a scientific mind this year -- sorta like "The Summer of George" Seinfeld episode).

so, Lebanon, eh? funny -- the guy doesn't even look Middle Eastern -- I hear they're all like that over there...

A local sheriff was caught doing the same thing. Even worse in that some of his stuff was instrumental rape. He is doing 70yrs without probation.

Here in Bradford County, Pa a local judges wife stole more than 500k from a local municipality and she is out working to pay restitution (no jail time); only a few hundred dollars per month! The judge said he knew nothing about it, meanwhile he still has a small plane, house, vacation house and the kids got a Penn State college education!

The Albany, OR newspaper coverage can be seen here:
http://www.democratherald.com/

I found the comments to be illuminating.

The local Lebanon weekly (weakly?) paper had no coverage in today's issue.

Abuse of power? A "good ol' boys" network at work here with the light sentence?
You betcha.
