This is cool. 89 y/o women with 1964 car with 540,000 miles

I can appreciate this lady. Lifetime warranty on parts for her car and has gone through over a dozen lifetime warranty batteries. Here is the link to the video.

Can't watch video at work, but I can only think of one brand of car from that era that could do that:

Mercedes-Benz

Some fo the diesels have gotten over 1,000,000 miles on them...

Awesome - I wish there were more people out there like her that looked at cars, driving and the American road as the magical thing it used to be years ago, rather than the unenjoyable chore, hassle and expense it's been turned into today.

Truly a time capsule and evidence of better days (and attitudes) gone by. Really neat story!

I dare say ANY Mopar Slant 6 will do those kinds of miles.

The car around it may not, but the Slant 6 will, easily.

I have a friend that bought a '61 Ford stationwagon from the original owner. He wrote down EVERYTHING, ie, "12/01/05- gas $.65 x 9.56 gallons @ 13,543 miles"in notebooks and he kept ALL the recepts.

Well, what about the ol' VW? I know of two that I've seen recently. One is a light blue one with an equally light blue-haired little lady that barely sees over the steering wheel driving. It's still going strong. Looks to be a pre-70 model.
I've run across her many times while out and about.
The other I've seen for the first time this week. An ancient black man in an ancient black Beetle... that old "Nazi Staff Car" black they they used to use. Looks like it was probably the first car Ol' Adolph traded for.
Both were merrily pooting along, not a care in the world it seemed.
If I can, I will stop them next time I see them to get the low down on their rides and shoot all you pic hounds pics and post results.

They'll find some way of weaseling out of it or claiming "we stopped servicing those a long time ago" or whatever. Standard M.O. for most auto parts places these days.

Great in theory though.

yeah, had a buddy with a Valiant, that dark Mopar green from the early 60's

He put 250,000 miles on it himself, ran good when he sold it for more than he paid for it, wore out original paint and all, who knows how many miles before he got it.

The bug my Mother is driving has about 400,000 miles on it, runs pretty strong, stops and turns a lot better with the disc brakes and suspension upgrades than new

She might not want one if it meant giving up her old car...
