Care Bears--drug induced cartoon?

My kids found a CB DVD today so they have watched it several times tonight.

What in the world were the creators on when they thought of this show? The characters are just stupid.

I'm not sure when they came out but I know I didn't watch them as a youth.

Just pray your kid doesn't see Yo Gabba Gabba. That makes CB look like it was produced by Mormons (no offense if you're Mormon).

LOL. I love Yo Gabba Gabba. A kids show by DJ Lance Rock and Jack Black? It rules.

My 2 year old nephew is a YGG fan.

Yeah, I have to say I can stand YGG. I THOUGHT that was Jack Black in an episode!

Cool.

I introduced my son to Godzilla on YouTube last night.

No, not the crappy, re-made, computer generated one. The REAL one.

I loved "Monster Week" on the ABC 4 OClock afternoon movie show when I was a kid.

The worst part of all of these shows is that they make Barney seem like quality programming.

I thought the same thing when I was first introduced to modern kids shows. But here's the thing - some of these things are actually researched by child psychologists and created according to the findings of that research. And not at all to be manipulative, but to be more educating and entertaining, particularly for really young kids. Our 3 year old used to love In the Night Garden. When I first saw it it blew my mind it was so bizarre. I thought it must be Japanese (it's British) But no, it was designed by child psychologists to appeal to 1-2 year olds and provide comfort and peace before bedtime. It works - our daughter used to love this show when she was younger, and it would indeed calm her down, even though she rarely watches TV before bedtime.

Anything Sid and Marty Kroft did in the seventies was the pinnacle of drug induced kid's programming. I mean seriously... H.R. Pufnstuf? Might as well have named him M.J. Doobiesmoker.

Kids under the age of 6 need zero TV. It does not do anything for them - only a good babysitter for the parents. As a matter of fact even older kids need zero TV - get them some DVDs and keep the commercials out of your house.

George, most if not all 0-6 kids channels don't have commercials. Our kids watch only DVDs, Family, Playhouse Disney and Treehouse - nary a commercial in there. Though I agree 100% with your point.

JMHO on this subject. I never have to worry about garbage on the cartoon channel. Of course OTOH I have to get up and play with the kids instead.

you're killin' me here, choked on my water and woke up the dog

Dudes it is all about "Land Before Time", with the baby dinosaurs, long neck, three horn, sharp tooth.

All DVD and video here, busy doing something mostly when the grand kid is here.

Mkay, anyone who would subject their child to that is definitely one of the Kool Aid drinking hippies. That gave me the willies.....
