Angry TransUnion rant

Every so often, every couple of years or so, I go to annualcreditreport.com to request my free credit reports. No reason other than to make sure they are right an no funny business going on.

It's been my experience, that if you go through the process, Equifax and Experian comply and provide you with a basic credit report. No scores, but a free credit report as required by law. TransUnion on the other hand always has some issue, or the site rejects your input, or something. This has happened the last three times I have attempted this over a period of years. In the past I've just been satisfied with the other two reports and given up, but this year I decided to get the one from TransUnion as well. I spent probably an hour going back and forth, calling several phone numbers, wading through endless bozo filters, finally getting a person, getting questioned endlessly about why I had called and what my problem was, being told I called the wrong number, being sent back to where I had already been, getting pressured to buy my report and score, and on and on and on.

Finally, I got to an automated line that said they would mail me my report if I said my name and address for them to record. I'm still waiting on that. Is it just me or does everyone get this kind of run-around from them?

I've never pursued getting mine from them, but I have noticed that have a higher "online fail" rate than the other two. (same thing that you've experienced)

Yes - I can get mine, but my wife is unable to.

Sounds like it would have been cheaper to buy a 3 company report, than to waste the time with the jokers.

Just wait until someone steals your identity, opens accounts in your name, and generally screws with your good name and reputation... You think it was tough getting a report from them, wait until you have to prove you weren't the one charging sheet all over ther world when you never left Alabama! You Will be judged guilty with no presumption of innocence. You will recieve no assistance from them. And, most likely, you'll have to get an attorney involved to get errors off your report. Even if one of your errors is on a local bank!
