Anyone have Sig DAK pistol?

Curious about the trigger pull. Do you get used the trigger? I haven't shot them much. Pull seems way long and way heavy, but I assume you can get it sorted out? Seems like there are millions of them floating around as duty weapons, so assume the answer is yes.

Thinking about a gun for the wife. Sig P229 DAK 9mm tops my list. I tried to teach her how to drive a manual shift, and that failed, like hell I'm teaching her how to use a decocker. We don't need any 9mm holes in the floor of the house thanks.

Isn't the pull the same as the initial DA pull on any Sig, more or less? Or is it a different animal entirely?

One of the guys who works for me is a member of the USCG Reserve, he is issued that pistol and HATES it, he has had problems with their qualification course every time he has shot it.

Now before anyone jumps on, this guy carries a Glock 23 daily for work and is a really decent shooter but the trigger pull on that DAK is a bear and only getting to practice dry firing once a month is taking him a long time to get the hang of it.

The strange thing to me is that apparently the trigger pull increases if you stage the trigger that is confusing.

I just sold my P229 two weeks ago. They are heavy guns and kinda bulky. Awesome, accurate and reliable. But not light or easily concealable.

P226?

Get her a P226. I have one, and my girlfriend loves to shoot it. Does have the de-cocker though. Not hard to figure out. Plus you can order a .22 barrel for it, and shoot target a lot cheaper.

If you need a pistol to feel comfortable where you live, then maybe it's time to consider moving

I don't think WA has any restrictions on the kinds of handguns or magazine capacities you can own. So why move? They have decent gun laws. Now, if HD lived in CA, then he might ought to move.

If you're not allowed to own a pistol if you want one to feel comfortable where you live, it's definitely time to move.

I feel very comfortable. I love where I live. If I had to lived in a country where the government had disarmed the citizens, leaving them as helpless victims for the criminals to prey on, now that would make me uncomfortable.

I have a Sig 229 SAS w/ 40 and 357 barrels. Great pistol, I happen to like the DAK. The only time I would feel uncomfortable is if I was the thug on the recieving end.

That pic's got me wanting the similar-looking P220 (.45) carry elite two tone. I floundered since I don't know enough pros and cons between SAO and DAO to make a decision and now there aren't many on Gunbroker. Not sure if it's discontinued or what. Kinda pricey.

I have a two-tone P220 and a P220 Carry with reverse accents, both done by Robar. Super guns, but I'm not a DAK fan.

DAO offers the advantage of a consistent trigger pull shot to shot at the expense of the precision and user friendliness of a light, short single action pull.
