Again, I'm not concerned about failing a drug test. My question was, and is becoming more relevent with the legalization climate in California, how can a drug test differentiate between legal use and illegal use.
What about illegal use of legal drugs, vicodin, adderall come to mind.

If those drugs are in your system, you will be asked for prescription information and that information will be verified. No prescription, you fail.

Medical MJ also does not cut it. First, they can distinguish smoked pot from Marinal. Second, the MRO's I have dealt with are not impressed by a MJ prescription. Even with a Px, they will declare your test "positive."

I have a question for you sammy...do you judge a guy who smokes one joint a week on a saturday night differently than a guy who has a few cocktails every saturday night?

I have had employees with prescriptions for pain killers denied access to job sites - when you test dirty for opiates you are out - regardless of why you use them.

This is at industrial sites with 1200 page safety manuals that even the author has never read.

Makes sense though, do you really want the crane operator popping vickies all day long?

Drug tests are hard to fool these days.

If your creatinine level is wacky, there is a medical reason. See a doctor, and have that doctor communicate with the Medical Review Officer who is responsible for declaring your test "positive." The MRO will reverse the positive to a negative. Or just eat more red meat and don't drink so much water.

Actually had one of these a few years ago in Georgia. Guy was an eagle scout and ate two poppy seed bagels everyday. They retested the sample and determined that it "may" have been caused by poppyseed bagels based on the levels - but it was right on the cusp.
