Ziggy Marley

i dug that stuff. don't recall the record name but it was pleasant. not 'serious' reggae but pleasant just the same.

and The Cult. good soulful rock.

then there was Soundgarden and Audioslave....not sure that stuff will ever get topped for hard yet heartfelt goodness.

when i was young Band on the Run, Bennie and the Jets and Hotel California were nearly intoxicating to me. still are if i'm in a position to just relax and let go. i think it has to do with my parent situation at the time but truth be told i'm not sure exactly what it was.

recent thread on SOAD reminded me how fantastic those guys are.

and no kidding i love that 'Never been to heaven' tune. fantastic.

i suppose most of this stuff would be considered crap by music snobs but of all the things i've experienced in this world music is something i remain grateful for. the right tune at the right time can just completely change my vibe.

I'm a huge fan of his dad. Bob Marley, especially with the other two original Wailers, played the kind of music that always puts me in a better mood. Even if I'm already in a good mood.

I have a couple Ziggy discs. This has reminded me that I should fire them up sometime soon...good stuff for just hanging around the house or driving or whatnot.

I have some live Burning Spear boots as well -- with the horn section -- their sound is more interesting than a lot of the typical reggae out there IMO.

Was never a fan of reggae. I'm sorry it just all sounds the same to me. But since you mentioned Audioslave, which I think is one of the best bands of the last ten years, I thought I'd point out Shinedown. They just stand out, I hope there are many good albums to come from them. The rock world needs good bands right about now.

I am more of a Toots and the Maytals, Steel Pulse, Jimmy Cliff guy but love Bob and the Wailers just the same. Desmond Dekker is another guy to check out for some good dancehall raggae.
