Another AR Build

Hi Guys

Finished another AR build a few minutes ago, here are a couple of photo's. Decided to give this one some color to remind me of the sandbox days.

Strange in the photos the furniture looks like it is different colors, but it all matches in real life. MagPul Dark Earth to be exact, dont know why the flash is screwing with it.

No I have built quite a few of them, have built both 5.56 and 9 mm. I think I will do a 7.62x39 gun next time.

Yeah I am glad we are pulling back from there finally, the stock is pretty nice I think MagPul does a good job with their stuff.

FYI. you can pick up a complete Del-Ton from AIM for less than $700. That's about what it would cost to build a low end AR. DS Arms has complete uppers for $265. Spikes has complete lowers for $250. Add a BCG for $120 and a charging handle for $20. Magpul sights for $90. Magpul magazines are $13 each and you are in business.

Seems like now is the time to build one to get exactly the rifle you want. Lowers and uppers are plenty and the retailers are trying to get rid of the overstocked now that the rush is over.

Lots of deals on complete uppers out there too.

Lower came from Spikes $89.00 plus shipping came out to $113.00 all told, the kit came from J&T for $499.00 plus ship, This was the heavy barrel chrome lined with A2 upper, so you can build a base line gun for under $550.00 if you wanted to.

I added some cost with the MagPul stock, pistol grip and the YM Free Float forearm and covers, but I have the left over parts from the kit that I could sell to recoup some of the money I guess.

I think the prices are going to come back down on them now that all the hoop la is over with.

Hi Jim

Nope did not work any on that one, the case you are interested in was a Glynn County case which is just North of me, they actually had several homicide cases in a row including the big one, last big one we had was a triple homicide Xmas week last year,

My camera is not the best, I have it set to low quality to keep the file size down.
The paint is actually pretty well done and the markings are standard size they are a HK inspired system.

K9Torro,

I do like to see AR's that are unique and not pimped out. Yours looks very fine indeed! I like the color contrast. Maybe I'll do something similiar to my RRA M4.

BTW, thanks for your service at the sandbox.

If I may, I too am building a new AR.

I have been shooting service rifle class in NRA High Power competition for several years and have achieved Master classification. Now, I have decided to build an AR space gun for the match rifle class.

Basis is a Les Baer Custom with a Jewell two-stage trigger. The barrel is a Krieger 26", 1:7.7 twist with fluting under the handguard. Pistol grip and front sight base is from David Tubb Superior Shooting Systems. Handguard is from White Oak Armament. Front sight insert and the rear sight are Centra. Sight radius is 30.5".

I am waiting on a new rear iris to replace that supplied with the rear sight. Also looking to get an adjustable buttplate that provides length of pull, vertical and cant adjustments.
