Nike resigns Vick

As reported on KATU TV, Portland Oregon on tonight's broadcast, Michael Vick is now back on the NIKE payroll.

So, anybody here thinking they may change their brand of tennie runners?

They do like a little controversy. Talk about free advertising. But this might backfire.

I sent nike an e-mail informing them that they won't be getting any of my money.

They probably don't care, I don't hold my pistol sideways so i'm not part of their demographic.

Why on earth would they resign Vick unless they actually wanted to get the gang banger crowd?

Good role models for the black youth in America, Michael Jordan, Tiger, even the Williams sisters but why Vick. He's just a thug.

A question I will never understand.

I think it's a good move. Vick went to JAIL after all for killing some dogs. The man lost his freedom, and took a substantial hit to his livelihood.

I think he's paid his debt to society and it's time to move on.

Good point!

Bet their waiting for Plaxico to get out on bail. Why not give him a contract in the slammer. Too bad he didn't shoot himself in the foot!

Cmon folks, the guy paid his debt to society. Let him have his life back. He *did* get more jail time than some child molesters get and we're talking about dogs, not humans.

well I don't see him as part of the human race..
humans should not do this ...
those that abuse kids and or animals...
forfeit that label..

Why any company would sign a convict as a sponsor I have no idea. It really underscores the values or lack thereof of the mainstream consumer agegroup in this country.

Submitted without comment:

Here's the entire list from sales on NFLShop.com from the NFL's first four months of the fiscal year.

1. Brett Favre, Vikings
2. Jay Cutler, Bears
3. Troy Polamalu, Steelers
4. Michael Vick, Eagles
5. Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers
6. Tony Romo, Cowboys
7. Mark Sanchez, Jets
8. Tom Brady, Patriots
9. Adrian Peterson, Vikings
10. Eli Manning, Giants
11. Terrell Owens, Bills
12. Peyton Manning, Colts
13. Hines Ward, Steelers
14. LaDainian Tomlinson, Chargers
15. Jason Witten, Cowboys
16. Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals
17. Joe Flacco, Ravens
18. Matt Ryan, Falcons
19. Aaron Rodgers, Packers
20. Michael Crabtree, 49er

Questions? The NFL was even selling Vick jerseys for dogs. Look it up.

You going to boycott the NFL, guys?

Well, seeing as how I haven't watched a game outside of the Super Bowl in almost 15 years, I doubt I have much pull with the NFL.

My point was Nike made a business decision, not an emotional one.

They don't care, as long as they move product, just like the NFL.

Speaking of Brett Favre...saw a pic of a Grenbay fan with a Tshirt that had a picture of Favre and the caption: "We'll never forget you, BRENT."
