old photos i cant delete

i have a low end cool pics camera that i think is a nikon that there are about 6 pictures i can not delete from the card. when it was one or two i could live with it, but its a pain now. they will not open for viewing, the icon will delete, but next time i plug the camera in they return. i have tried renaming them & deleting, no go. some are photos i renamed while still in the camera, but recently a couple with the camera assigned number/letter/jpeg deal will not go away.

any suggestions?

Format the card.

Depending upon the camera. Some/most cameras have a "format card" option in the menus. Assuming the card is removable, you could also do it from a card reader connected to your PC.

Are the pictures on the card itself or in some internal memory of the camera? Some older cameras used to have some internal memory that allowed you to take 10-15 pictures without needing a memory card.

If you can't reformat the card, replace it.

Yes, or you can format on your computer.

Did you ever get the card formatted?

One other thought, that I can't believe no one has mentioned. How about just get a new card? They're pretty cheap these days.

< edit >Oops, I guess Steve C did mention it. < /edit >
