Tx for the link. Great project. Few remarks on the text. I wouldn't translate onrust as trouble but as unrest. Unrest as in how animals behave during a thunderstorm or a horse before a race. I also found reference to a polder (land below sea level) called Onrust, might be connected.
Finally it is pronounced as on ( as in on-going) rust (as in metal rust, that's about as close as you can get to the Dutch short u).
It's in fact the same u as in your name.

What a superb display of craftmanship, love the drawings. They could be framed.

I cannot resist posting a few pictures I took of sailing boats in the bay of St-Tropez last summer. Sorry for the the (slight)thread drift.

Will you cover the aluminum parts with a wood veneer? Like what is show going down the stairs. What is the built time 12 months? 18? Truly a work of art.

JeremyD 10-07-2010 01:12 PM

Dang - talk about a mix of old school and new technology - Wowzers

BGCarrera32 10-07-2010 01:14 PM

Very impressive Bill...I love how the wood meets the engineering side of things (if I'm making any sense).

That looks like the sister to the "Essence", my friends boat which unfortunately caught fire and sank in Long Island Sound back in around 04-05'

Pretty.

Bill, first thanks so much for sharing this beautiful project with us. I have been looking thru the pics over and over. Very interesting design and engineering . I love the mix of traditional and modern hull design. Looks like you have put together a team of excellent craftsmen with a wide mix of skills.
What role do you fill in the team? Designer, Administrator, Project manager?

That Knee assembly, built to support the mast partners is a thing of beauty. Free standing carbon mast, wow. Will the stays be movable while sailing?
Have you been vacuum bagging those vernier laminates?

And most of all how do you find the time to be such a helpful presences here, enjoy such a active P car life, and manage to pull off all those amazing boat building projects.
Very impressive.
Thanks again for sharing
Richard

Here is my current ride. We did a deep over haul and refit, added the cockpit roof and wind shield structure in New Zealand in the mid 90s . Great composite craftsmen to work with there.
