There has been an 81 here with less miles and no salvage title for that price....

My buddy has one for sale that is a great deal, if you're serious.

Avoid the salvage title. 928 regularly go for $4-8k with a good title.

I just spotted this yesterday. It's not far from me also. It looks great, but then I spotted the dreaded "S" word. What a shame.
Did you also see that $13,500 Cayenne Turbo? (Scam???)

There's a jet powered 928 for sale here in Indy. I think they want around 7 or 8K for it.

+1 you can do better than that for the same money.
I read a really worthwhile 928 buyer's guide somewhere, I can't find it though.

There's no such thing as a $5k Porsche 928...or any Porsche for that matter. Read this again, and again until it sinks in. Then decide if you want to buy it.

Actually, i disagree with your assessment Choca.
I bought my 928S at a dealer only wholesale auction for $3400.00 many years ago, and even after all these years of ownership i'm still into it for less than $10,000 total. |

I'm not actually considering buying it, I don't need more vehicles now. But I've always wanted one.
And I disagree about the no 5K porsche too- you can own a nice, well maintained 2 liter 924 or an early 914 for that kind of money. They are solid cars and cost of ownership isn't outrageous. You could easily daily drive one of those for less than it costs to own a newer japanese car.

$5k already?! Now THAT is domestic depreciation!
![]() As for the shark, don't do it. You can find nice early ones all day long for $5k, or even a 300 HP euro model.

Wow, I knew 928's were cheap but I didn't think they were going that low already.
Meanwhile 944 turbo values are climbing. That's my real next investment.

You don't want ANY US model 928 that's pre 1983, and you don't want ANY Euro A/T car that's pre 84, they all had 3 speeds.
So basically stick to an 84 or newer. |
