I couldn't agree more, Jim!

Anya is now six months old. Aside from some SERIOUS HOUSEBREAKING hassles, I am head over heels in love with her.

Here's a few pics from todays retreive training:

I was also looking for a Vizsla but they were very hard to get around here. We went for a GSP, turned out a great choice but extremely energetic.
Have you used a bench? Fien was house broken at 16 weeks, she's 5 months now. First picture was at 10 weeks. Pictures 2 and 3 from when she was 3 months.
She'll eat anything BTW.

They're all beautiful! They seem to have human facial expressions.

Enjoy them all.

We were showing at Crufts last week. A beautiful Visla took Best in Show. This dog moved wonderfully in the ring. It was a well-deserved win.

We had one. Gorgeous dog. Velcro dog (stuck to my wife like Velcro). Never stopped moving. Never. I swear that she could run on walls. She could swim in the pool for hours with the kids. Only got out to pee. Had to give her away. Just could not keep up with her. Dog just didn't know how to relax.

Hey Vash, it's amazing how much your bro's dog looks like a Labradoodle (or visa versa)..
As far as retrieving goes, this is from my last trip to Idaho in December, there was a chocolate lab and a Lou Ellen Pointer along, Sophie got all 9 retrieves!!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1269227061.jpg

GARP...I LOVE that picture at 10 weeks. Reminds me of mine back in the 80's. Sucha good hunter, only lost 4 birds in 10 years. God I miss him!!!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1269277842.jpg

This dog is unbelievably fast. I can throw the bumper as hard as I can and I'll be damned if she's not lesss than 20 foot behind it as it lands.

Here are some photos taken at her friends house:

Anya is one year old next week.

We've had an exciting year with plenty of ups and downs. She is really a lot of fun but is also a lot of work.

Since I know there are several Vizsla owners on the forum, I figured you'd all like to know.

I lost my baby to cancer very unexpectedly Monday evening. Over the course of about 10 days she started losing energy and refusing to eat. Cancer was the farthest thing from my mind and when we gave the ok for the exploratory surgery and I was certain I'd be bringing her back home. We got the call at about 6pm that it was cancer that had spread from her spleen to her liver and parts of her lungs. They did not want to wake her up from the general anesthesia so we went down and said our good byes to her on the operating room table.

She was only 6 years old.

So sad to hear. I am sorry for your loss.

I posted this nearly 4 yrs ago:

6k spent on a $900 dog. They're both still here...thankfully moving a little slower. That's devastating Leland as that is when they are in their prime. Don't let it sour you, take time to grieve and get back on the horse. Take solace in the fact that Anya's life was well lived and she didn't suffer. :(

I'm sorry to hear this. Six is much too soon.

Dang, Lee. Sincere condolences, my friend. Very sad to hear, but as Jim said she had a good run with lots of love.

My daughter has a 3 year old male named Harvey. They don't hunt, but my SIL runs with him.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I've had Vizsla's for hunting, and companion dogs for almost 20 years.

When I saw this thread and noticed it was from 2009, well, you know the rest. Was afraid to read the last page.

So sorry for your loss. Hang in there. In time consider rescuing another in her name.
