Man I'm hurting

Started freeweights again, on Monday. My arms and chest are still sore...

Joined a gym in April. For the first month I could hardly get changed afterwards. For the whole summer, I could hardly get out of bed in the morning. Things are going well, and I get one of these #&*%ing flues.

One day at a time Red Man. Things will get better.

Good job getting back into it. Dont rush it though, nothing wrong with starting slow. Oh, and stretch afterward and the next am.

Once a week volunteering at Habitat or going up to the country place for the weekend was kicking my asz for the next day or two. Getting older and too much office in my life.

Time to get in shape. The zombies are coming m21-Man! Got to be ready!

Good for you Red-beard. What will feel even better is when you've been lifting a while and you go up in weight and get sore. Your body telling you it's improving. I need to start again myself. Never gave up running but I'm a slacker when it comes to lifting.

No doubt Zef, 52 here. I'm no studmuffin like you but look a helluva lot better than 85% of the folks my age.

start really really low - do lots of reps very slow

gradually change to more wt. fewer reps

for now, you might want to just move your arms over the same range of motion slowly like a stretch 2x/day for a few days

what you have are micro-tears in the muscle units...
+ a lot of lactic acid no doubt

It's tougher to see the young of 30 and 40 pass you by in a triathlon than to lift weight....

It's really tough to see the fat guy passing you on the bike!

Even worse when some fat old lady on a pink bike passes you! (bike pic enclosed).

All teasing aside, good on ya Redbeard! Ironmand-dude - you look great!

Starting again with weights about 10 days ago. It's always the 2nd day after that it seems to really smart. But I'm on a mission! The 24 hour MTB Solo championships will be in Australia in 2010!!!! I REALLY want to go! Besides, I'll be 46 and I might be slow, but for a 46 year old - I got MOVES baby!

I'm working to round out my workout and the weights are what I need. Tomorrow, I'll be back out again! Did a mile swim tonight instead...

I just do low weight high reps to keep my tone. As a bonus i'm rarely sore from it.
