Feeding coyotes

I'm moving next week in with a buddy of mine. We'll be living on a golf course (next to a large casino in S. Lake Tahoe if any of you know the area).. So I find out that my new neighbors have been feeding the local coyotes.. EVERY night and morning there are one or two of them sitting around like dogs.
Is there anything crazier than feeding coyotes ?? I"m thinking a high powered pellet gun may be the cure.. They are easily under 30 yards..
Way too many coyote's around and not that I let my dog off leash but the thought of them losing all fear of people and running around is wrong.

Flame away...

I wouldn't worry about it. Coyote's are typically shy. Unless your dog is small (or a fat, slow cat), they won't bother 'em (especially if they're fed). I would drop a dime to animal control about the neighbor's habit, though. That's a big no-no.

A Mossberg with slugs will do more damage.

Danny, gotta completely disagree!!!! I have 18 acres backed up against about 1,000 acres of wild lands. The coyotes hunt in packs, and have constantly probed my property chain link fence. I had a pack of them about 6, surround one of my 60 or so pound dogs and one of them would attack from behind and try and sever my dogs Achilles heel tendon to drop him. Also, they will use a female in heat to lure a male dog out (for the kill). I don't want to kill them, they keep the varmints down, I use a wrist rocket sling shot and paint ball pellets to mark them and give them an incentive to stay away.

.22 Cal shorts, very quiet......I live near a farming community. All farmers keep a rifle in the truck and pull off to shoot at any coyote they see. They would also shoot any city slicker caught feeding them.

Call Animal Control...they will deal with your neighbors and the coyotes. We had a few coyotes and bears come around our cabin in Meyers...Animal Control will deal with them if they become a problem.

way too small and probably cruel - I suggest the good ol' 30-30 for use on your neighbors.

or just burn down their house on a cool, still day - the sparks probably won't fly 30 yards

I found two rabbit legs in my shed. Meat picked clean off the bone to the foot.

I wonder what got them?
We have coyotes out here. Also mt. lions and other cats.

Local News | Navy plans to shoot Discovery Park coyote | Seattle Times Newspaper

This was my last bout with a coyote. It didn't merely CHASE our dog as stated in the news article, the damned animal came up on my porch and snatched our dog. Our dog got away, scrappy little thing, and the coyote is no longer living.

coyotes and racoons are some of the most adaptable animals when it comes to people moving into their teritory, they don't move out they stay and prosper, putting cat food out at night for your pets is always eaten by these varmits

I shoot any coyote I see. Yesterday morning before the sun came up, the little bastards were scrambling around in the hedgerow at the end of the horse pasture. Can't see, can't shoot....so the horses had to stay in their stalls until it got light. By then the coyotes had gone. I can't stand the mangy beasts.

Had one go under my house and grab my cat. At the time I thought it was weird to hear a cat fight go on so long. Few days and $300 later the same one came back and grabbed my weenie dog. She got away, but the coyote was dumb enough to wait around till I grabbed my pistol....but I missed.
