I thought the university of criminals was in a different part of that state and was coached by a really old guy. Guess it's catching. Maybe somethnig in the water down there?
If that happened at USC you can guaranty that pete carroll would punish the guy way harder than half a game, he'd probably kick him off the team. |

That video was frightening. Just incredible.
This is different that the LeGarrett Blount incident in a few ways. LeGarrett was pushed and taunted before he threw a punch. He was suspended for the entire season. He may be reinstated after missing seven games. This video was an unprovoked attempt to seriously injure another player after the play was over. It was criminal. He should be kicked off the team and if the other player was injured, charges should be filed. I'm disgusted.

To Meyer, winning is not everything, it's the only thing and unfortunately that is exactly what he is teaching his players, most of whom are probably convicted felons anyway.

If football gets a bit rougher a hockey game might break out. Hockey is truly the sport of goons. You can just about get away with murder if you have skates on. Does anyone else feel that an intentional act to hurt or maim an opponent, especially outside the rules of the game, should be subject to criminal charges?

The more protective gear you put on these guys, the more they believe they can go after an opponent without exception.

He should be kicked out of college and banned. He should be forced to repay the cost of his tuition.

That is more of a ban for the season type thing than the punch after taunting deal to me. SEC must have different standards
Hockey is not the sport of goons.

I was there. Must have missed it. I know they didn't put it up on the big screen at the stadium. Good thing. It would have gotten ugly. Rest of the season suspension at least. Not going to happen. They have Alabama to play in a couple of weeks.

What is just as bad was the caviler attitude from ex-jocks acting as sportscasters. "Oh it happens all the time in piles. What's the problem". And of course the NCAA after reviewing the incident agreeing with the 1/2 game suspension

There are two sides to this story......
GAINESVILLE - University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow said Monday that Georgia players were doing some of the same stuff that got Gators linebacker Brandon Spikes in trouble during Saturday's 41-7 win against the Bulldogs. In fact, a video is circulating online of Georgia's Nick Williams hitting Tebow well after he hands off the ball on a running play. Tebow said Monday that cheap shots just fire him up and he doesn't retaliate. CBS video shows Spikes reaching into the helmet of Bulldogs running back Washaun Ealey and moving his arm back and forth as if trying to gouge at the freshman's eyes. UF coach Urban Meyer suspended Spikes for the first half of this weekend's game against Vanderbilt. Meyer said Spikes' action was retaliation for something that happened in the game. There were five personal fouls called, three on Georgia. This hit on Tebow was not among them. At one point in the second quarter, officials gathered Tebow and Georgia linebacker Marcus Dowtin together to warn them about the rough actions of both teams. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDvFbD7wIAg
