I will occasionally do things like this as well. I figure the good press will do me better than a twenty dollar bill will sometimes. I pulled in a car the other day, with a an exhaust leak, they were expecting to pay 3-4 hundred bucks to replace everything, was just a loose bolt. Tightened it up and sent them on their way, n/c. Keeps a good customer happy, maybe make a new one .

Listen if you are really worried that he messed something up... Soak it with a hose and look for leaks...

I had a Cole muffler shop put in a new U-bolt, no charge. Yep, when I was in the area, I used them and suggested people go there.

I'm with you brother. Wife and I moved out here from Boston. These people are spooky. Always doing nice stuff for you, smiling.....WTF are they up to anyway?

Look, I didn't grow up in PDX. I was born in NYC and moved here from L.A. and S.F. So the peculiar customs of the locals still puzzles me.
