Recommendations for a good Blu Ray player

My refurbished Insigna Blu Ray player and I had a falling out last night.

I think it was a tie (I'm out $80 and it's in a dumpster). It was a POS from the beginning, and I have learned my lesson about refurbished crap from Best Buy.

So what is good for around a $100.

Wow, ok. Say it with me gooosfrabah, goosfrabah. It helps if you also massage your ear lobes while you're saying it. You may want to check out some anger management literature or classes too.

What kind of TV do you have? Sometimes buying a player of the same make gives you some extra features.

The blu-ray in the Sony PS3 is actually pretty darn good. Plus you get netflix, wifi, HDMI, bluetooth, DSD, SACD, 40/60/80/120 GB HDD's, and a bunch of other goodies. If you just want a good stand-alone player, I'd look at an Oppo.

FWIW that brand has about the worst reviews of any blu ray player I've seen.

I've got a Samsung Tv and bluray and like the way the work together. I've never had a problem with either.

+ a couple on the PS3. I have only had mine about 6 months and am blown away by the flexibility of the system and entry price. Probably my most gratifying purchase in some time.

I have a Panasonic DMP-BD85 but it was around 2 bills.

It is a nice unit but the PS3 is probably a better choice if you are interested in bluray and a game system.

Best Buy just asked for me to review the Blu-Ray player....I hope they accept my review, I didn't use one swear word.

From what I have read online lots of BR players are returned as broken when all they really need is a firmware update from the manufacturer. My LG player updated itself the first time I plugged it in. Of course the update failed using a wireless connection so I hardwired it to my LAN for the update then went back to wireless. No problems since.

Mine went through an update process during the initial install. It was WiFi, and it played a few times before it went to crap.
