I'm a super-fan as well. Unfortunately, I don't burn thousands of calories with daily triathlon workouts, so my lack of willpower precludes me from keeping it around!

I'm definitely gonna try that martha stewart recipe... my mouth is already watering!

I would compare it to whole milk, still a good consistency but not glass coating thick like true full fat egg nog.

Don't be dissin' Martha, that is a hard assed beeyotch.

Don't dig scotch. Smoked salmon, cheese, turkey, pretty much anything else smoked.

I will drink me some whiskey, no scotch. Egg nog is good with brandy, rum, maybe even scotch, may have to try that, got some Dewar's I think.

Silk Nog????? Umm....

Mom always made the custard-based stuff from the '70s edition Red and White checkerboard-ish cookbook.

None better, but I remember we had to find a snow pile to cool that custard in beforehand.

Maybe the iffy weather in SW Michigan was an excuse? All I know is, when there was snow, we got the good stuff...

Fresh nutmeg is an absolute requirement. As a kid, I couldn't comment on the bourbon thing...

Funny thing is, that as an adult, I hadn't had Egg Nog for years -- until I discovered the pleasure of Southern Comfort brand with ample Wild Turkey. Some grated nutmeg on top.

Excepting the red and white checkerboard cookbook stuff, we're pretty OK now...

OK... we're very OK now...

mmmm....eggnog has been a favorite of mine for almost 50 years. My son and I are the only ones in my house that drink it....and now since he is over 21...it is time to spike it with a wee bit of rum

Never been able to understand why you can't buy the store bought types all year long. Sure it's a niche market, but so are many other dairy products and they sell them all year long.

Got a carton in the fridge right now!

Put some in your morning coffee instead of cream... yummy!
