What country are we going to invade where everything is BLUE?

Apparently some senator must have a family member who owns a BLUE DYE manufacturing co.

A daring rescue attempt at sea ends in failure tonight. Scores of rescue workers sweep the area, with no sight of the missing sailors.

I thought "camo" was short for "camouflage, with the idea being to blend in, that does not look like it would blend much, and I suppose the bad guys might spot the 800 foot long ship before they saw the people scurrying around the deck.

current BDUs use a type of "camouflage" that relies on disruptive coloration - this was derived from studies on animals; zebras are the best known example

no idea why blue tho...

Blue is for ship, sub, and shore based sailors (?), they come in green and desert flavors for combat. Still don't understand the need. Keeps the seamstress employed I guess.

Blue is radar and infrared absorbing. It keeps them invisible.

We used to wear green camo, even in the desert, so this color isn't much different to me. What many of you don't realize is that many sailors (myself included) are not ship-based and are attached to the USMC or other forces that are land-based. In my 9 years on active duty,. I was on a ship exactly three times, for a total of about 30 days...

My dad retired from the Navy, and never owned anything camouflage.

I used to be in the Navy before i went army.. which was the biggest mistake i ever made by getting out by the way... lol.. but in the navy Seabees we wore woodland camoflauge... until we got to the desert then we switched to desert camo... im not sure what these uniforms will blend in with... lol...

LOL, the Navy is making the same mistake the Air Force almost made.

When I was active duty about 3 years ago the USAF came out with a new set of BDUs. They were grey and blue camouflage pattern, absolutely looked horrible.

The uniforms were ultimately rejected due to the laughing of the masses (literally, they asked for input via e-mail and were overwhelmed with negative responses).

The Navy is the same way, if they want camouflage they should dress in solid dark grey so they blend in with the ships they are on. Of course while they are all on deck they wear flourescent orange for safety!

For E6 and below, these are much better than the dorky old utilities/dungarees. They don't require ironed-in creases either.
