I have one for each of my children. Their name and a symbol which represents them.

9 years in the USN and not a single tattoo or piercing. I just get the "trailer trash, ex-con" image whenever I see one. Someone here (I think it was Moses) once called a tattoo a "Blaze" (badge of low self esteem) and that's how I see them, but that's just my humble opinion.

Thankfully split with my frigid wife in 06, decided to do RAMROD in 07, always told myself I'd tattoo the grease mark from the crank I got nearly everytime I went on a training ride. RAMROD is ride around Mount Rainier in one day. Did that ride and a bunch of others that year. Got the tattoo to remember the commitment I made to myself and the freedom I had gained. My daughters best friend is an artist and took the crank idea a bit further.

If you do it right, life is going to mark you up just right. No need for artistic adornment. Let your scars, callouses and injuries tell the tale.

HD, my girlfriend is Asiain with tiny eyebrows that she has to draw on every morning... she is thinking of getting them tated on so she doesn't have to do that every day.

However she has a very low threashold of pain, how much do you think that would hurt?

That's some pretty crazy artwork there.

I'm sure that he's probably an executive at a Forbes 500 company, though.

What a douche.

That dirt in his ear looks very real...only a true artist could make it look so convincing! Yet, if a fella had the talent you could make remarkable money running a tat gun!!

sammyg2 11-28-2009 09:30 AM

LOL nothing. I've never had any motivation whatsoever to mark up my skin.

Thanks... yeah we worry about that... some days she has happy eyebrows, some days sad, some days angry... we laugh about it, but what if she tatted them on and they didn't look good?

Not likely to happen anyway because she is a big chicken when it comes to needles.

this was in the news a few months back here in Belgium

"I just wanted a few stars, but i fell a sleep and the Tatto Dude had put on 57 of them..!!"

yeah right.

My sailors used to ask " Chief, do you have any tattoos?" I don't but I would tell them I need to get another one because I got one of a propeller a long time ago on my left butt cheek and since then I can only swim in right circles.

Wickd89 11-28-2009 10:50 AM

No tats either. Only thought military tattoos were cool and appropriate.
Now people seem to get it on a whim.

This is the only one I ever really thought about getting. This is an image from 1898 when America joined Cuba in the Spanish American War.

Interesting how differently tatoos are interpreted in the midwest as opposed to the west coast. You run into plenty of successful folks out here with tatoos. It just doesn't have the same stigma.
