what are your favorite gadget type things out there?

that damn flashlight thread has me shopping again.

if i had to pick two things i am obsessed with...it would be flashlights, and knives. i cannot own enough of the damn things!! much to my wife chagrin. she asked me what i wanted for Christmas, and i told her, i wanted another surefire torch. (she wont buy me any knives because of a chinese superstition, damn)..i bet she is still rolling her eyes.

distant, very distant third would be watches. but i cant afford them. the kind i like. firearms are a tiny blip on my radar...wierd.

I like 'em all. Quality knives, guns, tools , etc. But I don't collect anything, just buy what I need. Although as I sit here I am debating about going to the gun store . . .

Right now...the Ipod I just bought...going broke buying CD's to download. 1154 songs downloaded, more to come. This to plug into the car's sound system, since my Sirius radio freebie expired, and I'm not going to renew.

(edit) I'm pretty well set when it comes to guns, knives, and flashlights.

I like watches, but can't afford to collect.

I like knives and have a bunch of benchmades

I've got a slide rule (I'd like a couple more) and abacus (several actually, Japanese, old Japanese and Chinese versions), TI Voyage 200 calculator (will do calculus) and keep an HP32S rpn calculator (my favorite). So I guess you could say I like math/computer stuff.

Another favorite gadget is my ipod, but I don't collect them.

I also really love my Android phone (T-Mobile G1) which is funny, because for years I resisted pagers then cell phones and then phones that were anything but just a phone.

I've got a bunch of tools and would like more.

I'd love to have a garage full of old (interesting) car parts. I've got a pinion gear out of a Porsche G50.50 tranny (from Hank Watts car actually), a fan and shroud from my old 3.2L, a 911 head, piston, cylinder and rod. I'd like an old magnesium 911 valve cover, maybe a couple of nuts/spinners for old knock off wheels, etc...

I've got a small collection of 1:60ish scale cars (matchbox size and mostly Porsches).

I have a Surefire, 3 or 4 multiple D cell Maglights and a misc bunch of small flashlights. I don't "need" any more, but I often find myself stopping to check store's flashlight displays. Same holds true for knives. I can probably count on one hand how many times I have used a regular blade on one of my pocket knives in the last year yet I can't help looking at new "tactical" knives. I do however find myself using other "tools" when I carry a small leatherman type "pocket knife".

I like spoons.

Long spoons. Scatter spoons, and hand spoons.

I also like spoon-reloading machines.

This might not entirely fit the thread, but I am obsessed with jackets and gear for my hobbies. I bought a new rain jacket at the end of the summer, a nice Patagonia fleece a few weeks ago, and that is on top of two other fleece jackets, a baselayer fleece, another rain coat, and a dedicated ski jacket. And I still find myself shopping for new stuff once a week.

Whatever hobby I get into, I all go all out on buying the equipment and accessories that go along with it. The last two years it has been skiing (snow and water).

I'm getting into knives, but don't care about high end ones. Swtichblades are legal in AZ and they grow on trees at the gun shows here. Joeaksa and I hit the gun show here a few times a year and can't keep away from the knife tables. SIG Sauer just had a 72 hr. sale on some knives that were normally $39.95, but $15.95 if you ordered three or more. I got some for stocking stuffers.

Yes, but you should still call and see if they'll hook you up or have another one coming soon. I'm on their email list, which is why I knew about it a few weeks ago.

Im there too,

1 north face soft shell
2 north face hard shells
1 far west hard shell
1 light siera designs shell
plus another 5 jackets (casual to bike)
I wont even try to count the fleece jackets

Funny thing is I really dont wear jackets. I typically throw on a fleece if its cold and get in the car. I wear a jacket only when snowboarding or if its raining or snowing.

As for gadgets, no word of lie, this is what I pulled out of my bag that I carry every day;

Acer Aspire one - work
Iphone 3G 8gb - work phone
30gb Ipod (Full) - to plug into the car stereo
Nokia N810 wifi tablet - used for GPS in car
Nokia 6310 - personal use
Blackberry 8900 - if I have to type out long emails I will pop my sim card from the Iphone in it.
