need IT help - this site doing wierd stuff

OK, haven't been on here much in a while. Now, here's what I'm dealing with:

1) I try to log on to the Pelican forums. I do so as normal, and I get the little window that says "welcome RSflared72e"

2) When the site refreshes, most of the time, it looks like I never logged in. (Instead of saying "welcome..." in the upper right, it is blank like it is waiting for me to log in). Can't send PMs, etc.

I may have to log in again and again, move around to different parts of the site, etc before I finally get an "enduring" log in. Even then, it will "forget" I'm logged in after a few moves about the forums.

WTF? It took 5 minutes of trying just to get to the point of being able to post this. I tried lowering my security settings to no avail.

I am running Vista Home Premium on a Toshiba PC laptop.

Thanks, Al

Check the box that says "Remember me" next to your login, next time you log in.

Is that now required to get it to retain the log in?

How did it go with the Carrera - get it sold?

You might also want to look at your cookie settings in your browser.

See my first post re changing my settings to no avail - I set all the security settings all the way down to "viruses, come on in." Still, the first page after I log in to Pelican shows blank where my log in info goes. Then, most of the time after I move to another page within the site, it seems to remember I logged in, at least for a while. This is also after checking "Remember me?" as suggested.

Guess its yet another glitch in the computer world that will go unexplained. I blame Vista...
