Here is how they keep in business: they make crappy rebuilt engines; People get so disgusted they sell their cars on e-bay. A new sucker buys it, thinks he made a great deal. After a year or two of burning and leaking oil, he decides to have it rebuilt. Finds MotorMesiter, and thinks he got another great deal. Pure Genius from MotorMeister: they create their own market!

eBay feedback is 100% too ... A+++++

With tough economy more people are looking for a bargain. What better place to get one:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Reputations are not self perpetuating on the internet. There is some truth in the reputation a business creates for it self. If MM was interested in not having the bad reputation continuing they would quit doing bad builds and their reputation would come back as being a good engine builder. They have not cared to do that! That says a lot to their ethics, something that will not change. I agree anyone who sends there engine their deserves what they get. Of course JMHO:cool:

You are not alone in this feeling. "Rip off artists" is a nice way of saying "someone under arrest at this very moment for felony theft and operation of a chop shop" involving a lot of 911 Porsches who happened to be mostly owned by people on this forum.

I have a copy of the arrest record in case anyone wants to see it.

How can they really be that bad? If total amateurs here can rebuild an engine correctly the first time, how can people who do it every day screw it up every time? They must get it right once in a while.

Chocaholic 12-11-2009 03:43 PM

Used to work with a guy who sent his 2.7 off to MM for a rebuild. Got it back, installed it and drove the piss out of it for 2 years without a hiccup....until he was rear ended by a Suburban.

One happy customer. Could it be possible there are others? Naaaaahhhhh.

gimlet911 12-11-2009 05:24 PM

Right now MM has five eBay auctions for 911 engines. They offer, for example, a "Remanufactured 2.7 Porsche 911 Motor" for $2995 (your engine core). Detail print: "Remanufactured" does not mean new p&c, but "clean and inspect".

Their feed back is 100% positive at 622. To calculate this 100%, eBay only considers transactions for the last 12 months. There are 27 transactions the past year with eBay user motormeisterinc, all as buyer none as seller. The last time they sold anything shows as April '05.

They look attractive on eBay. That's how they will cover costs on the new facility for next few weeks.

Even a dead clock can be right once a day :D.

Google "porsche engine rebuild" and see what pops up first. Advertising can go a LONG way, especially for consumers not involved and informed by a community such as this one.

rick-l 12-11-2009 08:42 PM

Are the new facilities really bigger or did they just get kicked out of the old place and adding positive spin?

Since most of the negative comments are hidden from the INTERNET, its not fair to say people deserve it. When I first got my 911, I goggled engine rebuild. They came right up, and seemed a good value. They don't tell you that in the end it will be 3 times what they "estimate", and that it will leak oil and smoke worse than the mosquito commission. Since many forums frown on posting negative comments, you cant assume that people should be born informed on it. And like someone previously said, I am not vouching for them, as I believe they are a bad idea. But I was almost fooled by the advertisement they had.

Aurel 12-12-2009 03:33 AM

The reason this site does not restrain negative comments about MM seems very simple to me: for about the same cost MM initially offers to rebuild an engine, an amateur can come here, buy the parts from Wayne and get all the knowledge he needs to do the job right. Plus they seem to really suck, but like many here I haven't dealt directly with them. Just perpetrating the bad rep they already got for themselves. In other words, Motormeister is the most direct competitor to Pelican Parts in the market of affordable Porsche engine rebuilding. Or would be if they did a good job ;).

Even the one RS conversion they show on their e-bay ad smokes like crazy:
But hey, they must think it is cool with the light effect and all...not even ashamed.

Not sure where you saw that it was a MM rebuild, but I went to the Youtube video where the poster wrote the following

Quote:

Turns out , after lots of fafing that this noise was a dodgy gasket on the no3, head/ssi - got that all sorted and queit.
later on however she developed a similar tippy tappy noise on the rhs.. turned out to be a blocked squirter on the no1 cam, which wore the lobe and rocker progressively over 500 miles. Still, silver lining - had the engine out, replaced the cams with 993 RS cams and she is absolutely sweet as a nut now. goes like stink. badge from Pelican Parts
Sounds like he got a great "rebuild".

I'd love to have a copy, Joe. It might well be the only satisfaction I get for my losses to this scum bag....who's name we can't mention for "fear" of being banned

Joeaksa 12-12-2009 10:51 AM

Just emailed it to you Mark. So nice to see "bail $500,000" part in writing then 9 felony counts.

We know that there are more victims but unfortunately not getting any help finding them.

Joe Bob 12-12-2009 11:04 AM

If I was ever stupid enough...before the Internet made me smart, I would have shot Roy. No court woulda convicted me....

Hey Joe....send me the arrest record. I'll frame it and put it on the wall....
