It's actually really remarkable how much prettier the girls used to be. Check out almost any of the 1973/74 Playmates against the recent ones. It's like they can't get model-type beautiful girls anymore. Maybe the mag has lost status combined with the big $$ models make now deflates the $$ that Playboy pays(?)

Bebe Buell, (ultra-groupie and mother of Liv Tyler), looks pretty hot back in 1974.

I couldn't agree more. As a teen of the late 80s/early 90s I remember wondering what the big deal was about Playboy since all the models looked like plastic clones of one another...and don't get me started on the runway strips hideousely reminiscent of a John Waters mustache.

Then my cousin and I stumbled on my uncle's stash from 1970-80 and suddenly it all made sense.

I recall when Penthouse and Hustler came out in the 1970s. Much more graphic
and less refined, their appearance drove Hef to start including the "rug" shots, I assume to keep up?

July 1968 was the first time P-hair was shown, and just a touch of it at that.
Melodye Prentiss was the Playmate's name.

She passed away this year.

OK, Since I have nothing to do today.... I looked it up.

January '72 was the first time for full-frontal "down there."
The lovely Marilyn Cole holds that distinction. :Dhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1261083740.jpg

My Dad inherited a collection of Playboys from his brother. I believe it is complete from the early 60's to about 1987.

The last time I saw them was after my Dad passed in 2003 and they were still bundled and in perfect shape.

We've never looked into selling them on Ebay or the like.

Are they worth hanging onto for a few more years?

The first pinup on my wall was Dede (can't remember her last name). She was killed by her husband in the seventies. I think I remember they even made a movie about her. That set was about as perfect as you can imagine. And a real cute face.
