What decade, where, huh?
|
I went from being 39 to 49 and it seems more like a lifetime than a decade.
My 20's were all about figuring out my direction in life; lots of fun but a clear direction became apparent. My 30's were about wealth building, debt accumulation, business, family and friendships. Extra emphasis on debt ;( My 40's were about no debt, applying sound business concepts, continued education, lifestyle, happiness, family and friends. My 50's will be the greatest of all decades in my life! I have never been more prepared or ready for a new decade. I have zero risk going forward to the most valuable things in my life, my family and friends and I have the most opportunity in business than there ever has been before. Happy New Year to everyone! (cookie sheet? Ha! One finger points out and three point back! ;) ) |
Started at 41 ending on 51. Wife and I celebrated 30 years of happy marriage and took a 2nd honeymoon trip to Hawaii. Watched both of our boys move off on their own. Oldest got married to a wonderful girl and brought us our first grandson with a 2nd on the way. Younger son has a nice girlfriend and a good job. Wife and I both have good careers with Lockheed Martin, between the two of us we have 47 years of service ! Good health for the most part and two Porsches to boot. Lost my mom and dad :( and the father in law :( but life goes on. Great pets have filled the house with good friends and neighbors to share a laugh with. Went to plenty of sports car races and participated in many autocross events. Loving life and looking forward to the next 10.............................and more.:D My dad used to say try to enjoy each day because you never know when you'll wake up dead. My dad was a very smart man !!!

Nothin' much...

Met my wife(after being dvorcd for 3 years) in September 1999 and started over with her. We built our life by adding 2 kids, a dog and our house. I was at the same company for that period as was she until she quit to raise the kids.
Restarting over now due to my being laid off. As I have said before, we are better off now financially than we have ever been. 2010 is going to be a good year for us even with the problems we will have to face with our son's ADHD and the kids being in daycare. I was 32 ten years ago. |
Hmm Ten years ago started with a divorce, then kidney stones, then diverticulitus, then cancer, then debt.
It really sucked. I life is better than this. |
Divorced in 1999
Spent 5 years having fun with girls of all ages Left GE in 2001 and moved to California Re-married in 2004 Decided Califnoria wasn't for us and moved back to Texas Started our own company in 2005 Laid off in 2008 Worked for our company while trying to find work Decided to make the company a go. We're ending 2009 with a 5 fold increase in sales We'll double 2009 in 2010 I have a wondeful wife, a wonderful house, great friends. A few more sales and everything will be fantastic! 2009 was tough, and touch and go for a bit, but we harder and stronger from it. Happiness is 2009 in a rear view mirror Looking forward to 2010. |
Undergrad until end of 2001
Grad School until mid-2003 Finally landed a decent job, bought a house - mid-2004 Bought Snowy the Wonder Dog - mid-2005 Worked my butt off, traveled a lot, met this girl 4 weeks before moving to WA (future wife), sold house - mid-2007 Worked more, got engaged, moved back to TX, bought another house - mid-2008 Worked even more, traveled more than I ever thought was possible, got married, aaaaand here we are in 2009 :) Guess it was a good decade but it's hard not to come out ahead when you compare being in school for a BS and MS in engineering vs. having fun in the real world. Plus the whole not being broke thing. |

Same wife. Same job. Same house (but now paid off). Different cars including the addition of the 911 in 2004. Kids are all out of the house & married.
