42-52

Kids went to college, moved out around 2007.
Paid off all debt and kids college.
One son married and have grandson
Other son bought his first house
Retired in 2007
Married for 29 years.
Everyone has been healthy.
Have watched investments and savings grow, hit 1 million, then 2, and still growing.
Since I retired my golf handicap has gone from 12 to 4.
taken some nice vacations.

2000-2010 was very good to me.

From here on out my wife and I plan on taking it easy. Golf when the weather is nice. Take more vacations, especially during the winter. Still tinker on the longhoods. I like restoring things even if it doesn't make sense financially.

Professionally , I seriously downsized my buisness, went from 4 techs, me, and two counter people, to just me. Bought a commercial building, with a house on the property, moved in my parents. Bought 5 houses, and started a rental buisness on the side. When my new buisness location was slow, I flipped probably about 30 porsches, and had a side buisness of selling porsche parts.
Started the decade at 29, almost got a dui in a hot rod 81 Z 28 coming home from a new years eve party, cop was gratious ,and let me go.. Ended the decade at 39 driving with my kid in the backseat of a bmw station wagon,
For myself, bought a 76 911, sold, an 86 951, sold, a 76 930, and an 88 turbo S , I still have both. A bunch of other bmw's and volkswagens in between as well
Moved into my girlfriends dad's home, took care of him untill his death two weeks ago.
Had a son 4 years ago, quit drinking and drugs. I feel as if I really grew up into a good responsible man in the last decade. I went from being a party boy to a good family man. Working hard, and taking good care of my family. Still with the same girl, 16-17 years now, not married yet, who knows when?
I accrued a ton of debt in the early part of the decade, and it nearly took me down, but have gotten that under control, and my goal for the next decade is to finsh it off, and start working on a partial retirement by the end of the decade.
Have been on a ton of good vacations, took a month off and drove across the country with the gf, spent many weeks at the beach, surfed, ski'd, autocrossed a ton, went to a bunch of track days, exploded the motor in a 911, jumped out of an airplane. Been to two funerals of good friends
All in all, was a good decade for me. tough financially, but I have lived out most of my childhood dreams in this era.

Started my own architecture firm in 2000 and bought an old Porsche a few years later.

The first seven years of business or were okay, the last three years poor.

I thought 2008 was bad but I kept busy, 2009 was a total joke.

Guess it is time to reinvent myself. :(

40-50
Got married, stopped wasting money on German cars, got laid off, started my own business, found out I'm going to be a grandfather, downsized the house, made money last year and will make more this year.

You know even with all the shiza going on around us...we rocked it. Very happy being 50+ and going into the new decade.

Thanks 924slover.. It is very hard, harder than when my father passed from cancer, but thank God I am older, wiser, and stronger...

I still have many good times with my mom, they are just bitter-sweet...
My kids love hanging with her and boy do they all enjoy cartoons..:D
