Did this Marine go too Far
On the lighter side, A Marine reportedly caused a bit of an international stir, prompting this reaction.
"Another bloody American trying to educate the world," a Nightcliff resident said. "Mate, look at your women in the US - Rosanne (Barr) to Britney (Spears). At least we have a bar to raise." Another reader wrote: "Leave your opinions in the USA. PS: You didn't vote for Bush by chance?" full story here. US Marine Tells Australian Girls To Cover Up, Offends Nation

No marine would ask a reasonable-looking woman to put on MORE clothing. Hoax!

^^ They're both named after the same guy- not a coincidence.
i call hoax too. and considering its summer and temps would be over 40 degrees celsius, who in their right mind would put on more clothing? I struggled in winter temperatures in Darwin.

I definitely met Marines like this guy. John Glenn was the same such, too--remember The Right Stuff?
Anyway, kind of takes away from the reputation which is useful, you know?

DD74 - NZ generally not as hot as Oz in summer but we are a big country (slightly less than Nth America) so it depends where you go! Tasmania has a pretty cool climate.
I suspect a hoax as well but no one here has taken it too seriously ![]()

no, nz's pretty moderate in comparison, low to mid 30's at most. its very dry down south to more humid further north. Our sun is much harsher though, especially compared to the north hemisphere. the ozone hole is in our neighbourhood and burn time can up as quick as 15-20 mins with no protection. Sunblock spf 30+ is regarded as the norm. family visiting from Central Otago last Dec were suprised how green everything was up here. We went down to them for Christmas and everything was very dry.
Parts of NZ look a lot like British Columbia.
