Taurus Judge Handgun - Next Buy???

Maybe my next buy...

The "Taurus Judge®" is so named because of the number of judges who carry it into the courtroom for their protection. Capable of chambering both .410 2-1/2" shotshell and .45 Colt Ammunition, this amazing combo gun is ideal for short distances - where most altercations occur, or longer distances with the .45 Colt ammo. We have finely tuned the rifling to spread the shot pattern at close quarters or to guide the .45 cal. bullet to the target. Fully customized with fixed rear sights, fiber optic front sights and Taurus Ribber Grips®, the "Taurus Judge" is one decision-maker that lays down the law.

Fiber Optic Sight

Light gathering tubes are inserted into the sight to offer the shooter the highly visible dot created by the end of the fiber optic.

Crimson Trace Lasergrip

I really think there are better choices for a handgun. I've had a number of them come through that people have ordered, the 3" model is even worse. Would be ok to keep in a nightstand.

I was with my father-in-law a couple of weeks ago when he bought one. We did not have time to fire it. I left a tablesaw there, so I have an excuse to go back soon and get him to take it to the range.

It felt like a quality firearm. It was a bit bulky for cccw. Pun intended, but it looks like a blast to shoot.

I agree. Taurus is not one of those "good names" in firearms. They have a life time warranty for a reason.

If you are buying a gun to use when your life is at stake, buy a gun you can stake your life on.

Skip all the pussyfootin around and just buy a 629, about the same price and it's made by a manufacturer you can trust.

Funny, I was thinking about my 629 when reading the first post.

Correct 45 long Colt. They are boat anchors with one of the heaviest double action trigger pulls I have encountered in years.

Sounds like a neat toy, but certainly not a gun I'd rely on. If you read online, complaints are that the 2.5 410 shot shells in various loads you may want are hard to come by and that they hold only a hand full of pellets in anything that would have meaningful penetration.

I would either get a normal revolver or a shotgun. This thing tries to do both and isn't real good at either.

The Ruger LCR or if you are a semi auto person, their LCP are good guns. The LCP is amazing with the Crimson Trace laser grips out to 7 to 10 yds which is about what it was designed for. The trigger feels about like my S&W performance center TRR8 it is so smooth. The guns shops told me that the PCP failed the CA drop test so I am not sure if it is available in CA now?

My sisters boyfriend has one of these Taurus Judge revolvers, he really likes it. I've never fired it personally.

2.5" 00 Buck contains 3x .33 caliber pellets. It's a formidable defense loading.

Any Colt, Ruger, or S&W .357 is a good weapon.
