Has anyone heard about this car..It's listed in Autotrader, from Las Vegas and listed for $220K+. The thing sounds like an absolute beast!

Seller's Description and Comments

THE FABLED CREATURE DOES EXIST, AND ITS JUST BEEN PULLED OUT OF HIDING. THIS CAR IS THE RESULT OF A MONEY IS NO OBJECT APPROACH TO BUILDING A SUPERCAR. IT WAS ALL THE BUZZ IN THE LATE 80'S SUPERCAR WORLD AND THEN SEEMED TO HAVE JUST VANISHED. HERE IT IS! THE OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME FOR PORSCHE ENTHUSIASTS 1989 PORSCHE 962 POWERED SPEEDSTER ONLY 1896 MILES THIS INCREDIBLE CAR IS THE PRODUCT OF A GREAT PORSCHE TUNER BRUCE CANEPA AND AN OWNER WITH A PASSION FOR SPEED. THE MISSION, BUILD A 200+ MPH SUPERCAR OUT OF 1989 PORSCHE 911 SPEEDSTER. CONCEPT THE ORIGINAL CONCEPT WAS FOR THE CAR TO LOOK STOCK EXCEPT FOR A LARGE DP DESIGN PLASTIC REAR SPOILER, BUT THE CONCEPT CHANGED WHEN IT WAS DECIDED THAT THEY WOULD NEED LARGER WHEELS AND TIRES FOR THE CARS POTENTIAL PERFORMANCE ENVELOPE SO THEY ADAPTED SOME OF THE 934 DESIGN CHARACTERISTICS TO THE SPEEDSTER. IT WAS DECIDED TO USE 934 FENDER FLARES AND A 934 FRONT SPOILER. A DP REAR WING WAS USED BECAUSE SOMETHING LARGER THAN THE 934 WING WAS NEEDED TO FIT THE HUGE INTERCOOLERS OF THE 962 ENGINE THAT WOULD POWER THE CAR. ENGINE THEY CHOSE TO USE AN IMSA VERSION OF THE 962 ENGINE. UNLIKE THE THE WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP 956 AND 962 ENGINES WHICH HAD WATER COOLED HEADS AND THEN TOWARDS THE END WERE COMPLETELY WATER COOLED THE IMSA VERSION WAS AN AIR COOLED EVOLUTION OF THE 935 ENGINE. CANEPA WANTED TO USE THE IMSA 962 ENGINE WITH THE FLAT FAN TO BRING BETTER COOLING OF THE RACING FLAT FAN TO AN AIR COOLED ENGINE IN A STREET CAR THAT WOULD BE PRODUCING WELL OVER 500 HORSEPOWER. FUEL INJECTION A HALTECH FUEL INJECTION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WAS USED WHICH TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE EXISTING 962 INTAKE MANIFOLDS WHICH USE TWIN STAGED INJECTORS. THE ENGINE RUNS ON ONE SET

They did a big article on that car in Excellence many years ago. Don't remember all the details, but remember thinking "wow, this car was really done well."

I wonder what happened to that car. There is another 911 with a 962 engine in it I believe.

Making a 962 engine is an interesting thought if you're willing to take it all apart, and reverse-engineer everything.
1). https://www.nextengine.com/indexSecure.htm to scan individual parts.
2). Spend gobs of time cleaning up the CAD model to seperate and hollow out runners.
3). 3D Printers - Dimension Printing - 3D Printing, 3D Printer, uPrint, Rapid Prototyping to make a plastic model.
4). Milling/moulding/other.
