I drove back to LA from Vegas today. Never thought I'd see a "Mojave National Preserve" sign covered in snow or spontaneous lakes in the desert, but I saw them both today. Snowed in Vegas yesterday. I'm praying for good weather tomorrow, as I really have to ride the bike back home.

Silly question here: but when you're in the cold like that, are you cold, or does the bike keep you a bit warm?

A few minutes ago, we has little white balls of ice FALL OUT OF THE SKY!
I kid you not, ice balls falling. And hitting the ground. Ice balls.

I saw and thought that is just to weird, and then said "am I on candid camera?"

Maybe if morons didn't build houses in fire zones the rest of the USA wouldn't pay for CA forest fires and mudslides?
California pays for other states, not the other way around.

I think the wind sheer from traveling at highway speeds combined with the water that's covering you tend to overwhelm any engine heat that might be keeping you from freezing your cajones off. A nice fairing and proper riding gear help, though. As do heated grips and/or vest if you've got 'em.

My heated grips don't even help when riding in real cold. If I have liners in, I can't feel the heat. Without liners, only the insides of my hands stay warm. In November I rode to Mammoth Lakes from Phoenix via Death Valley. In the same day I went from sea level and 80 deg. to 10,000 ft. and sub zero temps. Actually, it was a balmy 25-30 deg. in Mammoth, but add to that my 90mph speed and it was a cold ride up that mountain.
