new FireFox

ver. 3.6 has a super annoying habit of opening new tabs in the middle of my other tabs.

older version opened new tabs at the end of the other tabs (so they were easy to delete)

anyone know of a way to change it back to the old, familiar way?

Ver. 3.5.7 here. Are you on a Mac or PC? I haven't seen 3.6 yet, which will automatically download to my Mac. At any rate, have you checked preferences to see if there's a way to uncheck the feature or go back to a previous version?

That's a "feature". I think they assume if you are going to open a new tab that you would want it next to the tab you are on.

It takes a couple of days to get used to it, but when you go to another PC that has 3.5, you miss having the newly opened tab right next to your current tab.

Opera has no peer when it comes to speed.

ok, I'll give it a couple of days

here is how to stifle the "feature':
New tabs do not appear to the right of the last tab

I'd rather watch Lady Gaga than opera...

BTW, Google Chrome does the same thing when you open a new tab.

I don't.

Here's what my firefox looks like (resized to about 1/4th of it's normal size so it fits better on the page)

That's simply not true, in terms of speed.

I like Opera, and occasionally use it, but most tests confirm Chrome is easily the fastest browser if that's all you're looking for, mostly due to the fact that it has a bare bones set of options.

Firefox is the best current options/speed alternative for me. I got the auto update to 3.6 today, and I don't have the tab issue Randy does.

Wish it released memory faster. Am getting used to the new tabbing and finally decided that I like it more than the old way, was just not used to it.

MSIE does tabbing that way. It grates on my nerves because I'm used to the original method, which was the tabs showing up at the end. Good to know that FF allows a change to that feature with the new version.

I was IE until 8.0 started acting up recently. I used FF for about 3 weeks. Now I am using Chrome & it seems to me to be the best of the lot. fwiw
