I don't think of Panerai as a fad, they have been making that size watch for a long time, But, I would rather buy a Anonimo Polluce 10 ANNI, it's made in the old Panerai factory in Italy and about half the cost.

When you get time, I'd like to figure out which Patek you have and what you think of it. I'm in the process of getting rid of most of my watch collection and I want to end up with one Patek for special occasions and one Rolex for knocking around. I can't make up my mind which Patek suits me the most.

No, have not heard anything about him in years. I was really into the scene then headed overseas in the 80's for 10 years and lost touch with most everything in the area. As well lived in Tahlequah for a while but that was years ago.

Boy, thats a tough one having just two watches.

Naw, I'm actually looking forward to it. I was up to around 2 dozen and that's just ridiculous.

I am also purging the excess cars, motorcycles, cameras, books, etc. I rent 4,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space to store the crap that I own that won't fit into a 5-6,000 sq. ft. house. It's just too much. Gotta simplify my life.

As a collector of vintgae watches, I have 30 or so I bought on the Internet, both from Ebay and online watch dealers. Ebay is now the new price standard for watches. What's a watch worth? what someone is willing to pay for it at any given time. The trick is, and this will come as no suprise to the 911 crowd, to know what you want, know the sublte differences between a good used car, err watch, and a rip off.
Also if you stick with buyers with a good rep, you can't go wrong. I have had only a couple of problems, usually due to shipping, and the vendor each time offered a prompt solution. Your client rating in a digital age is your bread and butter.

I have a couple of replica watches. When I go to "interesting places" like Lagos Nigeria or Moscow you really think I am going to wear a real Rolex on my arm?

I take a replica and if someone wants to steal it, they can have it and I am not risking something that I might be tempted to kill some thief over...

I've traveled to less than safe areas-I leave my good watches at home, why wear a fake?

Why not just wear a timex, nobody will try to rob you for that, you want to get robbed cause someone thinks you are wearing a Rolex?
