Seriously, who buys a $48k watch on the web, sight unseen? Better hurry, there are less than 5 left!!

Everything is relative.

Rick Lee 02-03-2010 04:17 PM

I don't know that brand, but there are plenty out there where $48k would be a bargain and I wouldn't have to see it up close if it were from an AD with paperwork. Nice to buy online and get out of that sales tax bite too.

gt350mike 02-03-2010 07:31 PM

Anyone that can afford to pay $48k isn't going to buy it on the internet.

Not true, especially with "new money".

kaisen 02-03-2010 07:41 PM

Hublot is a great watch, but not worth $80K.... or $48K

Damian in NJ 02-03-2010 07:41 PM

Not a Big Bang watch guy, but JC Biver has done miracles with the brand.

I'll prove you wrong.....send me a check for an even $50k and I won't buy that watch!

new, not found :)

So, when that rubber strap goes in a couple of years is it going to cost $15K to get a new one?

That deal's a rip off. A quick search shows there are perfectly good Hublots (less the diamonds) available for $15K-$20K.

BeyGon 02-03-2010 08:55 PM

Here is one from work with diamonds but I didn't ask how much he paid.

Ahh, wrong! Mark Cuban bought his Gulfstream 5 jet over the internet. Never saw the bird until the last minute... Friend of mine was the pilot on it for years and said that this was typical for him.

vash 02-04-2010 06:11 AM

hey, why are all watches in advertisements set on 10:07-10:10ish?

Rick Lee 02-04-2010 06:13 AM

If I had that kind of money, I'd buy my big ticket items online whenever I could, so as to avoid the huge sales tax. I'd rather burn my money in the fireplace than let the gov't. get more of it.

javadog 02-04-2010 06:14 AM

That Patek has a good chance of holding it's value long-term and even appreciating some. A sizeable percentage of the highest value watch auction results each year are from Patek watches. Even some fairly mundane (for them) watches have done really well, if they weren't produced in great numbers.

The Hublot is just a good way to piss away a sizeable chunk of cash.

They think that it is more asthetically pleasing, than having the watches show a different time.

and the hands don't block the day/date settings and sub dials.

herr_oberst 02-04-2010 06:34 AM

That Patek Philippe is often discounted to 950,000. Caveat Emptor.
