the Tom cruise Valkyrie movie sucked ass.
I generally dislike WW2 movies where the French can't speak their own language, the Germans can't speak theirs... and the Japs don't speak Japanese... Then again, i'm used to being multilingual... and i hate dubbed movies... IB, i liked it well enough, Landa ruled, so did the Cinema girl...wouldn't kick her outta bed... Pitt was allright, he didn't have the leading roll, and he probably had to delvier the part the way he did...So i don't see why anybody should bash him for that... if anything, it's the director who says how he wants it.. bash Tarantion if you must... personally, i knew what to expect from a T movie, and it was as expected... i wasn't really dissapointed.. In fact, i think it's pretty cool that a big name like Brad Put plays what is pretty much a supporting roll in the movie, he's hardly in the movie at all compare to Landa and the girl... He must ave know that.. He hardly has any screen time at all, just a couple of oneliners and scenes to tie the landa-girl story together...How many minutes is he in the movie at all ?? 10, 15? It won't be much more then that. Try and find movies where Tom Cruise would accept such a position in a movie... There aren't any... a TC movie with TC in it, will be a TC movie with TC in the lead character, opening , carrying, and closing the entire movie.. |
Tom Cruise was a supporting actor in TAPS, but it was a long time ago.
|
long long time ago, and he had more screen time in Taps then Pitt was in Bastards.
|
QT seems good at giving major actors secondary roles. But I didn't think it worked here.
|
I don't care for Mr Cruise's work much myself. Pitt was good in Snatch as the gypsy introduced to the picture as he is taking a crap on the ground between the caravan and the car.
The cartoon in Playboy was not bad for this Inglorious Bastards thing. What is it with the mispelling it anyway, is it central to the story in some way, or is it just being cute? |
he did that because the original movie, which was done by Italians, had it misspelled...
the original one , i couldn't finish watching it... now that was a bad movie. EDIT, or the italian one was not misspelled, and Tarantino misspelled his movie to differentiate... can't be bothered to really look up a source for it... it was something in that nature |
I hate misspelt movie titles.
|
I loved it. I've seen it at least four times.
|
Geez I liked it. Watched it twice. Some pretty funny stuff going on.

I enjoy multilingual movies and subtitles. I never got into Kill Bill or QT's other recent flick but I really liked the cinema experience with this one. This has been my work wallpaper since, shes gorgeous! http://images.allmoviephoto.com/2009_Inglorious_Basterds/2009_inglorious_bastards_005.jpg |
I liked it. Some funny one liners.
|
Pitt's best role--ever--was in 12 Monkeys. The few other movies I've seen him in (except Snatch) weren't worth the price of the DVD rental. It pleases me to learn he doesn't have much screen time in IB (haven't seen it yet)--maybe I'll put it in the Netflix queue after all. I've been avoiding QT films ever since Kill Bill. Major suckage.

"Tarantino thinks he is the greatest director who ever lived. I think he's made some okay movies, but nothing great"
pulp fiction. best ever made. |
True Romance, Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are all absolutely fantastic all-star laden dialogue driven movies with damn good action scenes and magnificent sound tracks to boot.
|
Thought Pitt did a great job--took me a while to get over the cartoon of his character but it seemed to really work. The Jew Hunter stole the show, though, and I love the insolence of changing history.
Spygames was a damn good Pitt movie, as was River Runs Through It, which was a great book. He's a good actor plagued by celebrity-hate. And I've been out of touch for a while; are he and AJ separating or was that puff? |
For me I felt the movie fell off after the bar scene, Hugo Stiglitz needed to live on
|
horrid movie, Mr. White would be appalled.

quite some contradiction in your post.... QT made pulp fiction... if you say that's the best ever made, i can only assume you think it's a great movie... no? And QT doesn't think he's the greatest director ever, have you ever heard the man talk about movies?? he's a movie nut... he watches movies all the time... he's a cult movie buff... who tries very hard to make movies like the ones made by directors he's a fan off... He doesn't take it so serious to think of himself, that he's the greatest.. he's no Cameron, Spielberg, Coppola... he knows that and i'm sure he doesn't mind.. If you would have said " QT thinks he's the biggest cult movie buff who ever lived" you could have been on to something... |
When I first saw the trailers of this movie I thought it was a parody of "The Dirty Dozen" I did purchase and watch the DVD and it was a typical Tarintino film music and all. If you take it as simply a fiction movie and watch it as that it is worth a look. The two best scenes no doubt were the opening at the farm house and the bar scene, followed third by the SS interview of the actress with the fitting of the shoe.
