I accidentally used a tablespoon (tbs) of cream of tartar instead of a teaspoon (tsp) in snickerdoodles.

Pucker up!

I once REALLY messed up a cake I was making for the team at work. I couldn't face making it again properly so I took it to work the next day and said it was Dutch Cake, and it's meant to be flat and firm.

It's like when you double (or halve) a recipe & forget to double (or halve) the WHOLE recipe. BTDT.

Grabbed powdered sugar when I was supposed to have grabbed flour to thicken up a gravy.

It takes a lot of powdered sugar to thicken up gravy I found.

It does taste real sugary when you finally try it once it thickens and then you realize your mistake. Doh!!

My stepson once did the same thing years ago. Recipe called for a bunch of sugar and a little salt, maybe 1/2c and 1/2tbs. He accidentally swapped the measurements. Yeah, really gross cookies.

Hahah. Apparently, you didn't really need those cookies...

My dad decided to help mom wit a recipe years ago. Who knew that "t" was for teaspoon and "T" is for tablespoon? It only matters when the ingredient is red pepper

I got the munchies back in college and figured I had everything I needed to make oatmeal cookies. I couldn't find the flour, but after some digging I found a tuperware tub of flour in a storage closet behind the kitchen. The cookie dough didn't taste quite right as I was mixing it up but I kept going. After a few minutes I couldn't even stir it. Yup, my flour was really plaster of paris

My grandmother made up a batch of peanut butter cookies for the church social. After she had dropped them off she noticed the jar of peanut butter was un-opened. Everyone complimented her on her great sugar cookies.

Home made christmas ornements are made by substituting salt for sugar in a sugar cookie receipe.

One of the guys at work, when I was a young guy at GE, told the story of how his wife used a cup of ground coffee, in a coffee cake recipe, instead of a cup of leftover liquid coffee.

On chocolate chip cookies, you cannot substitute "low fat" fake butter for shortenting (1st-wife).

You cannot substitute red chinese peppers for mexican red pepper in mexican food (Enchilada sauce). The quote of the decade, about this sauce, "This is excellent, but inedible!"

My brother's first job was as a fried chicken cook. It was at the officers club snack bar at Hickam AFB in Hawaii, a place nick-named the wahine kapu. He wanted everyone in the family to wait a week before we came down to try it. He put in fresh oil and was supposed to use paprika to give it some brown color. He used cinnamon by mistake. It looked the same and he did not think to smell it. I have been teasing him about it for 40 years.

He Shoots! He Scores!

(if you want to make those even better, put a couple of macadamia nut halves on them before you bake em)
