my wife has a friend that is impossible to set up with a date. i'm a civil eng, living in a civil world. target rich for any single ladies looking for a man. or so i have been told. all my wife's single friends want me to hook them up with co-workers. i have taken several of them to my office parties, with mixed results. one in particular. very cute, slender, athletic....very christian. i tell her that my office has very few men that meet her criteria. she goes to church "religiously"..isnt that the best place to meet men anyways? i do occasionally go, and i am always amazed at the singles running around socializing. piece-o-cake! i asked this one girl what i need to find out about a man, before sending him her way...she said, "ask him if he loves God". her last two "targets", have been pastors. i think she spooked both of them. no pictures. sorry. any christian speed dating or websites for singles? |

I try not to set my friends up. The old saying, ''no good deed goes unpunished'' comes to mind. |

Any person who is one dimensional, no matter what that single dimension is, isn't worth it. |

Is this lady also the match.com lady? |

vash... seriously... ask this woman if she has given eHarmony.com a try. Same goes for any others who have been bugging you to set them up. Neil Clark Warren, the guy that set it up, has done a lot of research on compatibility, etc. and I know of several really good success stories involving people I know. ______________________ eHarmony Company Overview In 1997, after 35 years practicing as a clinical psychologist and counseling thousands of married couples, Dr. Neil Clark Warren had come to believe that there was a better way to find love than leaving it up to chance. He knew from his experience in clinical work that although some American marriages were ending in divorce, many others were deeply satisfying unions of two fulfilled individuals. He observed that, in many cases, the marriages that endured were composed of compatible people, while marriages that deteriorated often did so because the differences between the individuals became harder to resolve over time. What if he could define the traits most likely to lead to relationship success? Could certain characteristics predict compatibility and lead to more satisfying relationships? Dr. Warren set out to test this theory in collaboration with Dr. Galen Buckwalter, then a research professor at the University of Southern California. They sought to identify the characteristics between spouses that were consistently associated with the most successful relationships. After three years of research and development, they successfully identified the key dimensions of personality that predicted compatibility and the potential for long-term relationship success. Pasadena-based eHarmony (eHarmony #1 Trusted Singles Online Dating Site – More than Personals) launched in the United States in 2000 and is now the #1 Trusted Relationship Services Provider in the USA. eHarmony’s patented Compatibility Matching System® allows eHarmony members to be matched with compatible persons with whom they are likely to enjoy a long-term relationship. Millions of people of all ages, ethnicities, national origins and religious and political beliefs have used eHarmony's Compatibility Matching System to find compatible long-term relationships. Today, an average of 236 eHarmony members marry every day in the United States as a result of being matched on the site.* eHarmony is available in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. eHarmony remains committed to investigating and understanding what makes long-term relationships successful by conducting ongoing, rigorous scientific research to keep the matching model up-to-date and relevant for domestic and international markets. Dr. Buckwalter retired from eHarmony in 2008 and continues to serve as a trusted advisor and key member of the Research Advisory Board. Although Dr. Warren is no longer involved in the day-to-day management of eHarmony, he is Chairman of the Board and plays a vital role in the business, advising management and inspiring millions of users with his strong belief in the power of healthy, long-term relationships. I found eHarmony to not be any better at increasing the odds than any other site. And in fact their statistics are suspect as almost everyone I knew was on multiple sites. The reality is that all of these sites are only good to make an initial contact. All the algorithms in the world won't predict success in human relationships. Vash, your friend's best bet is an Xtian-specific site. There is a site for every preference. If she wants to walk on the wild side maybe she should try nerve.com. Might open her eyes...or something. |

 maybe find a group on meetup.com? |

Like I said - odds are that statistic isn't a good number. You working for eHarmony or something? ;) Match.com, intelligently applied, can provide a higher likelihood of success. Frankly the tool doesn't make that much difference. It is how you use it. |

Upon what do you base your claim "odds are that statistic isn't a good number?" Or your other claim "Match.com, intelligently applied, can provide a higher likelihood of success?" Seriously. Sounds like a lot of BS, you poopyhead. :) |

FWIW I married a Christian girl and we are very happy AND have a great sex life... I had a lot of great dates off eharmony but never hooked up... like any web based dating site it has it's share of nutjobs. Plentyofish.com is a good dating website (and free) and whereas it is not Christan specific but you can put it in your profile that you are looking for someone of similar faith... Oh and my wife and I were introduced by an old high school buddy of mine. And yes even thought I (we) go to Church almost ever Sunday, pray, and read the Bible there are some people who take it (their faith) to a dysfunctional level. |
|
Have her pray that God delivers her a suitable suitor. When she complains that God is not answering her prayers, remind her that maybe His answer was "No." As to the dating site suggestions/assessments, two friends who have used both match and eHarmony confirmt that a) it is not uncommon that people frequently register with multiple sites, b) both are about the same as far as success with finding someone compatible/uncompatible and c) people often manipulate responses/info on all of them including eHarmony. If I hadda guess, her problem is not strong religious beliefs but rather having preconceived notions and unrealistic parameters of what is acceptable in a potential mate to the point of being intolerant independent of her spiritual mindset. |
