Highway observations....

So I'm bring my son back from a swim meet last weekend and saw a few things.

One was a car that was completely on fire. We passed by it 2 or 3 lanes over and could feel the heat with the windows closed. I was really surprised about that. It must suck to lose your car and what ever is in there to a fire.

Second and more disturbing, I saw a SUV on the side of the road with the right side doors open. Looking below the car doors, I see someones bare white a$$ with a load being dropped. It was like watching a dog take a dump, but it was a human. Why wouldn't they go up in the woods to their business if they had to go that bad?

About a mile down the road I pass an exit with plenty of hotels and gas stations...

You know in some states it's technically legal to take a dump on the side of the road, but talking a leak is against the law. Go figure!

After a big plate of jalapeno nachos and a few beers, the fire extinguisher makes a lot of sense....

Had one partially catch fire. Left a lasting impression on me. Have an extinguisher in every vehicle and more than a few around the house.

I've also learned that you have to teach your wife how to properly use one. Nothing like being woken up to a flaming toaster oven and a screaming wife asking how to get the fire extinguisher to work...lol

I'm going to Charleston in May to check the city out. Hope your experience isn't an everyday occurrence!

no just most of us were BOY SCOUTS and learned the golden rule...........BE PREPARED!

or............................as you grow older and WISER........................

always BE PREPARED with a "PLAN Z"! cuz the 25 other best laid plans will all go to poo from experience.

and thats how we get the chicks/the trophy/the medal/key to the city/and a book deal that shoves gazzillions into our pockets.

This happened between Columbia and Greenville, so you're safe in Chucktown!

Since there's somebody from the area on the board... what all is there to do? We planned on going to Atlanta and spending a night there and visiting Savannah. The rest of the time we will probably be in or near Charleston. It's a dual-purpose trip. Go have fun, and see if it's the kind of place we could move to in a year or so.

The biggest adventure is probably downtown. Lots of old homes, bldgs, shops, restaurants, and sites to look at. The aquarium as well. If the weather was warmer, there are plenty of beachs and the Riverdogs baseball team. Patriots Point across the river has the USS Yorktown, a WW II aircraft carrier and Clamagore (sp?) submarine.

I have to admit I'm not a real go out to dinner person, so I can't name any great restaurants. My wife could do it though!

I remember riding in the car with my mom. I must have been somewhere in jr high. We were going down Nichols Canyon, here in LA. Some car was parked in the little (now fenced off) driveway by the power station on the side of the road. The driver's side door was open, and the female driver was buck bush nekkid next to it. I recall asking my mom WTF was that?! (or something to that effect, with slightly different words).

Sorry, no pics.

Sounds like fun. We'll be there in the middle of May. Will the water be warm enough by then?
