When I published FirstTime Dad magazine, we always supplied 300 dpi files in Quark. What the printer did with them, that I can't say, but everything was required to be 300 dpi.

When you are going to rasterize a digital image you want to sample one with a resolution of at least 2x the final resolution. So, for a 150 line screen, you start with a 300 dpi original.

QUARK!! One of the best days of my life was when we told Quark Inc. that we were switching to InDesign. That was about 30 seconds after Adobe released InDesign.

Part of the confusion is that DPI relates to the output resolution of the device. It is commonly confused with, become synonymous with and has generally replaced PPI these days.

Old timers know the difference, todays generation rarely use PPI as a term.

Because a computer generates images in pixels, a grid and printers lay down dots of varying size to trick our eye into seeing shades the image resolution becomes and issue.

4/c plates run lines at different angles to try and get a nice roseate.

When the grid is overlaid by the line we find that some pixels fall on a portion of the dot and either need to be included or dropped. When the PPI is too low, the grid too large, a lot more pixels get included giving us that pixelated, square edged look.

So we need twice the PPI for the intended line screen so we have enough pixels to lose without affecting the image quality.

Wait a minute, you just said the same thing that I did but said it made no sense?

This is an awesome thread. From a simple question to manhood to panties back to manhood to doodling to printing, back to manhood, friendship back to manhood, printing, killing people in Nam, typing speed back to manhood, pixels.... (did I miss anything?)

And I said it would die...
Testosterone is such a beautiful chemical.

Shaun did you print Whipped magazine also?

I met the daughter of the Quark founder once, years ago. Smoking hot, incredibly rich, sort of a jerk.

You you were a real man, (oops back to that manhood thang again), you'd have boned her, told her to make you a sandwich and bring a beer with it.

You know I was so tired from beating up her fiance (he shook my hand a little too softly, sort of cold fish, and smiled, but didn't smile the way he should have, so I pummeled him, and anyway, after resting, she did make me the sandwich, my gf brought me the beer and then we had a great wild threesome, so I then I was really tired and then...

fists o' fury man!

If you would like to order, simply paypal me at shaun@littletravelerusa.com please note which shirts you want, size and ship to address.

if you would like to send a check or pay by credit card, please email be with a phone number and I'll give you a call.

Each shirt is $26 shipped. Not going to estimate shipping East/Coast this time. Canada, add $7, overseas add $10 (total, not per shirt if ordering more than one).

My paypal is shaun@littletravelerusa.com.

I'll be running these July 1-3 and shipping then.

From a printing technical perspective, there is nothing elaborate about your drawing. You could bring your sketch down to any local shop and have it done for $3.50 + cost of a shirt.
