Should I file a police report?

boyfriend of temp worker comes in today with temp worker. In previous dialog last week, he wanted to join my company bringing graphic design to the table. I said we could talk in 2 weeks. I don't think he has much talent and would have let him down easy at that future discussion. He asked me again about it today and I said I don't think it will happen as I don't think we get along, pretty much exact quote. he then comes very close to me and starts to tell me he'll need a full accounting of his gf's hours by the end of the day (she's paid pretty much every other day, really needs the $) and leans into me like less than 2 inches from my face.

I told him he should leave. Shouting ensued (he didn't want to leave) as I led him to the doorway (second floor). He takes one step down and stops, now facing me, telling me I've got to turn away before he leaves, I haven't seen the last of him, etc. I tell him to leave or I will call the police. He leans into me and "softly headbutts" me, that is tries to push me away with his head. His gf is downstairs and shouting to leave. It may be of interest that yesterday she was doing a poor job and when I asked her if anything was wrong she broke into tears and said she's having a hard time at home (she lives with him).

When he pushed me away with his head, I walked away saying I'm calling the police. that was 20 minutes ago.

I think I handled getting him out of my offices well, I am very concerned about him coming back.

What should I do, if anything?

Yep, file a report and fire that chick. Get them both out of your life.

absolutely Shaun, this way when he forces you to defend yourself you're covered.

I think you handled it well, too, but do you really think the police will care? Maybe police are different there, but in my experience, they couldn't have cared less any time I've called them over something, from brawling in the street out front of our house in the middle of the night, to our car being stolen. I've lost a lot of faith in them, because it seems most if not all of my interactions with police are speed traps.

Call the OMARS and get an RO from the local hottie judge. Grab the marbles before he does.

Got no faith in the Police either, but definitely call them.
Then when you are forced to protect yourself the next time, self defence will be easier to explain

Do you feel like you were assaulted? If yes, I'd call the police. Perhaps you should have a police officer escort your ex-employee off site when she shows again..boyfriend or not.

Agreed on calling the police... make this incident a matter of record.

Yeah, file a report just in case something else does happen, then you've got a history/paper trail. Hell, I think you could probably file assault/battery charges on him, but that sounds like a pain.

That whole "turn away" thing would have been a huge red-flag to me. Turning your back on someone that seems as unhinged as that kid sounds like a bad idea.

From the less practical more fantasy side, you probably could have gotten away with kicking him down the stairs after he head butted you. "He threatened and assaulted me, I was defending myself."

Tough situation. Not sure calling now would do anything. Probably have to wait for the next time and call in the moment.

Knee-jerk reaction is just to fire her and wash your hands of the whole thing. But if she is a good worker, that kinda sucks. Getting involved in other people's lives though can get ugly quick.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't feel assaulted until he wouldn't leave and head butted me. I called the police, they asked for a brief rundown, I repeated the above, they are sending a car.

Thanks guys! I'm in the middle of running all my samples for fall (3 hours of sleep last night) with a hard deadline of 9AM tomorrow. Just don't need this now.

Yep. call the cops. Have it on record, so when you need to kick the crap out of him you will be covered.

I am surprised he didn't accidently fall down the stairs. Although he may have tried to find something to sue about. Non-employees have no right to be on premises.

Document the situation. He might be back.

They don't care and they won't do anything about it, but it the timely filed police report goes a long way in getting a judge(hottie or not ) to issue a PPO against this guy. So it does serve a purpose.

That's what I was thinking

Seriously, it was the right decision to call the cops. He threatened you, and last I checked that's a crime (but I'm no lawyer). At the minimum, cops will have to fill out a report and you've got the beginning of a paper trail.

Good luck.

not only call the police, file a report and possibly a restraining order.
people like this cant leave things alone and just move on.
he may come back for revenge or just to hassle you.
If your complaint is on record and things escalate in the future,
you may need to use force to defend yourself or your property.
