Precursor for a big haiti-chilean type quake perhaps?

4.4, I didn't figure that would even wake you up.

Looks like part of the south bound 5 FWY may have buckled. Reports form the CHP is the #3 lane has raised about 6 inches at Lakewood.

From a 4.4? Wow. Usually anything less than 5 doesn't even get noticed.

4.4? Meh. I've had bowel movements that rated higher.

Plus a 6" pavement differential on the 5 freeway is considered a "flat spot" compared to how hacked up the rest of it is. I'm surprised it didn't help level it out and make it better, honestly.

Surprised it was only a 4.4. Sure felt bigger. When an EQ is happening, it can be hard to tell the magnitude because you don't know how near or far you are from it. The earth shook pretty good and for a while. Dogs were barking, car alarms went off and I heard a lot of sirens right after.

I went back to sleep. No matter how big it was, I survived.

Earthquake? I didn't feel squat down here in south OC. Usually, these wake up me and the dogs.

naaaa. my sucky local clay rich soil is doing plenty of damage. my foundation is nicely "custom fitted" to my lil plot of land. tiny quakes do very little damage. my home is flexy. hahah.

at some point, i am gonna get a buddy over when i rebuild (if) and do some piles.

Didn't feel a thing. After experiencing so many, I think it has to be 5.0 or higher for me to notice.

woke me up too. Actually was a fairly long roller here in Santa Monica. I'd guess at about 15-20 seconds.

Woke me up too, but only a little. I waited a bit for the big one. It was one of those, "it's quiet, too quiet" moments, but then it was also 4am in the morning. I went back to sleep.

We had a 4.0 here a week or so ago centered in the Julian area and another a couple of weeks before that in the Borrego area. There seems to be quite a few lately in SC.
