Kinda looks like a bad photoshop, though I think I like it better than the sedan.

A four door convertible.
What are the structural implications of that in terms of maintaining rigidity at an acceptable weight penalty?

Wow, Porsche is selling a blue lettered link as a convertible?

Good points, when I "touched up" the design it looked a lot better with the roof as more of a fastback design. Taking off the roof altogether just eliminates it's worst aspect/feature.

Regarding the origins of the rumor, a quote:
Porsche plans Panamera cabrio - Autocar.co.uk
Quote:
Recent comments from Porsche insiders indicated the car had been cancelled, but renewals and fresh patent applications in the United States indicate otherwise.
Regarding the weight issue, a quote:
Porsche plans Panamera cabrio - Autocar.co.uk
Quote:
While other car makers have considered four-door convertibles, the required stiffening and added weight have often proven stumbling blocks.

But advances in high-strength steel and tailored blanks (sections of steel in varying thicknesses) have reduced costs to a point where they are now being considered as part of new-model plans by many car makers.
Old images from other threads for reference:

One more I did today, sorry I don't know Photoshop.

Ah the good old days of 4 door convertibles. Now that SUV's are no longer en vogue I would love to see Porsche bring back the 4 door convertible and make it something that everyone else copies and builds.

I didn't realize it had been so long, but according to "automotive.com" the last production 4-door convertible was the 1967 Lincoln Conti. Is that correct???

Of course that does not include the countless aftermarket conversions, like this Chrysler:

I stopped by the local Porsche/VW/Audi delership today.

Saw a Porsche Panamera in carbon gray, I'd call it a very dark bronze myself. It is better looking in real life, hides it's mass pretty well. The hunchback thing is still there, but the car is lower in real life than in photos so it does look like a Porsche. For $118,000 I think those flaws might be enough to keep this car a rare sight on the road. If you just look head on at this car it's real nice, it's the rear and roof line which is all messed up.

Top down, this could be a nice car.

Just wondering...
If VW has voted to kill the Panamera after the initial run, why would they bother with a convertible version??

Yes. Totally hideous, even with the suicide doors.

But it's a convertible, so it's still cool. Just ugly.
