hey. legal concealed carry from another state?
UTAH and FLORIDA!
honestly, i dont need to be packing all the time, but locked/loaded on long road trips would be good. the article noted californians already doing it. Utah, Florida help non-residents pack guns - Life- msnbc.com

I have a UT permit, which I got only because, at the time, it was accepted in NV, but my AZ permit was not. NV stopped taking UT permits last July 4th. This stuff is changing all the time. I spent about $50 on the class and another $60 on the application and I don't think I got to NV with my UT permit until the day the new law went into effect. I am not gonna spend the time and aggravation to get a NV permit, which, BTW, lists the guns you've qualified with and you can only carry those. I just carry in my car there, which is legal without a permit. My AZ permit covers me in UT, so I really wasted that time and money.
Now, if KA ever gets with it and gets a shall-issue law or issues non-resident permits, I'd do whatever it took to get one of those.

I'm sure thousands of KA residents have gotten UT permits. But that only helps them outside of KA. Even in states with shall-issue CCW laws, you usually cannot use non-resident permits in your own state. People get UT permits because they're then covered in most other states that allow CCW.

FWIW, the Second Amendment Foundation's annual Gun Rights Policy Conf. is in.....San Francisco in September. It's free for everyone and it's a pretty cool event. I visited them two weeks ago in Seattle and went to that conf. when it was in Phoenix two years ago.

I have to go to VA next week for the first time in two years. If I get pulled over, I'll hand him my VA permit first. But since I'm an AZ resident now, he might ask me for my AZ permit. He might not know how to tell if it's real, so I'll then hand him my UT and NH permits and tell him to take whichever one he knows will cover me in VA. My PA one expired long ago.

Florida does not allow you to carry in Florida unless you have a Florida out of state permit, or if you have an in-state permit they recognize. Several states are like this (South Carolina, West Virginia). You should always try to have an in-state permit, if you can get it.

Which reminds me...I sent Florida my application and a check on 1/29. They cashed the check months ago, but I'm yet to see a CCW in the mail.
A friend of mine sent in his app a week before me, and got his permit in 3 weeks...

Just had to re-up in Tejas. I'm 4 months early...I hope it doesn't take that long.

CCW in CA: I looked into it when I was living in LA County and was told point-blank by the Sheriff's Office that unless I was a Federal Judge or a personal friend of the Sherriff who was bodyguarding for a movie star I'd be more likely to be hit by a meteor than be issued one. When I (almost) moved to Riverside County last year, I was told that I had a decent chance of getting one - lots of people had them. So there are ways. It depends on where in CA you are.

If you did not do your finger prints electronically it takes a LOT longer. I had my FL permit in 14 days.

They realized a bunch of people who'd been turned down in pa were getting them in fla because that's the only one you need to carry here. Something like 9 or 10 people.
I won't get a fla permit cause i dont want to be fingerprinted. |
