In Colt 1911 Spoons..the difference in price between a 90% spoon and a 100% spoon can be double to triple the amount..What make it any diffferent for automobile.
Wow. Tabs and I are exactly at the same figures (range-wise) ---- please don't flame us if you believe limited Speedsters deserve higher $$$. To each is own.

Anyway, the $25,000.00-$27,000.00 initial figure was what I was thinking about, but I did not want to insult the owners. Thus, I posted this thread.

I wouldn't worry about insulting the owners. An offer is an offer, they can either accept it, reject it or make a counteroffer. It isn't personal.

I don't think you can get that car for anywhere near $25K, but if you do, that's awesome! I suppose if you find a seller desperate enough, who really needs the money fast, etc.

Let us know what happens. Hope you can get it!

I'll disagree with that. Even if you limit yourself to US cars, 800 is a large number. It's serial production, with 1,200+ more examples overseas. Should you wish to buy one, there are almost always numerous examples for sale all day long.

You could make an argument that the 20 something '87 to '89 Clubsports are rare, but not '89 Speedsters.

Exactly. There are always plenty of them for sale. From the moment they were produced, they've been more common in "for sale" ads than on the road. Not rare in the least.

A while back, some rich kid and his Dad sold me his 1-year-load, $45K Toyota Supra turbo, fully-loaded for $7,500. It was so unbelievable that I had to take it to 2 different dealers to have PPI. It was unbelievable, but it did happen. For the unbelivers, i can prove it.

The BJ auction was a mistake of mine: it went for $39,000.00 not $29,000.00!

Anyways, my dilemna at the moment is that I just bought a brand new 370Z, still have the '83 Cab, and a 75 that I am currently assembling/rebuilding the motor. Some things have to go if I need to pursue this. I may need to sell the Z at a loss.

We'll you'll end up selling the Z at a loss someday anyways, and if you sell it tomorrow that would minimize the loss. Or just sell the 83 cab.

If you can buy a nice 50K miles speedster for in the 20s, you simply can't go wrong. Drive it for a year, then sell it for a profit. Again, I really doubt anyone would sell that car at that price, but hey, if you can get it, jump on it!

About 6 months ago, one was bought for about that, maybe even a bit less & it was a pretty low mile, clean car..

If anyone has a clean, low mileage '89 speedster for sale for $25K, please forward it to me. I will buy it immediately.

?????

Not sure if you are kidding, but if you are not, it was from the owner of a Pool Company. The Dad had about 5 exotic cars all covered with car covers

They bought it from West Covina Toyota which I actually confirmed. I took it to Longo Toyota for another PPI.

And who is Dennis?

As opposed to Denis, which is me. (Who has never owned a Toyota Supra or a mid-year 911). Just wanted to keep that clear.

I may have been mistaken you for someone else. If not, I am talking about the 911 motor. Dennis who work for Downtown Porsche.

Well, I emailed her and I got the car for $24,750.00. I am in-love with this car.

The above was my dream a few days ago. On a serious note, I emailed her twice to discuss the sale and price but no response. My hopes are dying really quickly. However, still optimistic as she has not said "No." Also, I know that she has 2 young ones and thus she wants an SUV.

If only her kids would just grow faster. I will keep you guys posted.

Look 171,

Do we know each other? Weird, because, yes my '83 CAB was bought from a Porsche mechanic who works at Downtown L.A. Porsche dealer. I did not buy it from the dealer, rather from him.

I ran into you somewhere and we got talking about 911s. You mention this guy that can build a really dry motor and you purchased a car form him. As it turned out, it was the same guy. I know Dennis really well. Is that the motor you are rebuilding now? Some of the local guy that hang around Pelican know him too.

Look171,

My apologies if I do not remember you.

From what I understand, Dennis is like a 'head mechanic' at the Porsche dealer. Supposedly, he gets sent to special classes about Porsches. All I can tell you is that a few people were blown away that my motor was dry. Obviously, the credit goes to Dennis.

No, the motor that I am rebuilding is not from Dennis. He rebuilt the '83 motor. It still runs. (except for my recent, normal WUR and morning issues.

The motor I am rebuilding is an early 3.0 motor that came with the '75 chassis/roller that I bought.

Yes he's there at the dealer. I think he's going to die there if his wife doesn't kill him first. We were chit chatting at his house one day, you know, they sent that bastard to school back east to learn the ins and outs of the Carrera GT. He actually gets to drive them or test drive them at the dealer here. Good guy really.

Oh my God, how can you not remember me? I am short, fat, and really ******* ugly. Its ok man. I am just messig with you. did you end up getting the speedster? Bet that Z is a whole load of fun to drive.

Jeff
