Well, it appears the stock is in favor, so that makes me happy.
I also like my Apple stuff. |
HA! :D Eric.
As a product architect, I do like Jobs. He's eccentric with his design requirements. Job's approach to both product architecture, and feature-set management is always interesting. Anyone remember 'NeXT computers' ? ...hyper-black cubes... Big beautiful screens with a judicious use of color? (read: mostly gray-scale). He has a habit of stripping needed features in an effort to buoy a 'simple' theme. (and then all the extra crap gets purchased -- Nothing new in the marketing world; "Coke and Fries with that? ..super-size? How many apps on YOUR iPhone? |

My (old) Samsung Q1U has both forward looking, and 'Skype' cameras. It has a super bright LED backlit display, and is easy to use. No typing on screen (unless you really want to) but rather use a stylus and write on the screen. (slick) It runs whatever real OS (win XP on mine). --obviously no issues running You-tube or Adobe bla bla bla Here I have it plugged in to the brain of my big Porsche for some diagnostics. (YES that is a USB cable coming out of the device. --not found on the i(dork)Pad) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1269965774.jpg Again, this is just one of many tablet devices. ...that have been around for YEARS. (edit: about 4 years for this model. They had a simpler version (like the ipad) before the Q1U) Some of you fanboys need to key-up on technology better. |

Anyway, the past 3+ years you all have been waiting for this giant iPhone w/o a phone . . .w/o a camera . . .w/o a simple USB port, I've had this little device that has been flawless. I travel with it. I had mobile GPS maps before your iPhone was even out. It has been great for both off-loading all my travel photos, as well as edititing them. Oh, and I can plug my (prosumer) camera into the thing to control picture taking remotely. --the screen shows what the big camera sees, and I just tap the point on the screen image, and the camera locks focus, to that point, and snaps the picture. I sync my phone to it for schedule and calender. ...and I've used it extensively to write Pelican posts like this one. But you wait for that iPad. I'm sure that you will be happy with the few things it does . . it is shiny w/ an Apple logo after all. |

It is not about pure technology which is what a lot of tech companies just don't understand. It's about how, the process, steps the average person would take to accomplish a given task or interact with technology. It starts with the Apple Human Interface Guidelines. It's about adapting natural behavior to the technology vs forcing a behavior to access the technology. |

Why are you so militant about this? It's just a gadget? |

One more time - it's the UI. I'm glad you're happy with your tablet. More power to you. Evidently most of the users don't agree with you as MS has floundered in the tablet market. Apple likely will not. If you want to talk about market share, please look at the iPod and iPhone and what they've done since introduction. Those devices are all about the UI. |

If other products with better technology are available, the responsibility falls to the companies making those products to educate and inform consumers through a variety of marketing channels. You don't hate Apple, it's products and the people that buy its products. You hate the companies that make products you like that have done a poor job of marketing their products to consumers. All of your energies to disparage Apple aficionados here on OT would be much better directed toward your favored companies. |

You all insisting that I have hate for Apple should really consider your own view (hate) of (the more popular) Microsoft products. If you haven't noticed, that's exactly what I'm drawing out of you iFanboys. --a complete inability to fairly assess product. You all are like religious zealots. It's funny, and sad, at the same time. And like all zealots, a bit annoying. The iPad is NOT some sort of revolution/ savior device. -- it's just a scaled-down net-book. Yes Net-books are becoming more popular with the increasing cellular bandwidth. But, it's the bandwidth which is drive the device market - not some promise of a scaled-down net-book creating a revolution of new bandwidth. |

snark is as snark does. The more popular MS products? Oh right...market share...MS does crush the competition there (*cough* iPod *cough*). And they continue to lead (*cough* iPhone *cough*). |

Personally, I care very little about a computer's ability. I need one to write with, plain and simple. iPad, iTouch, iThis, iThat - it's all good to someone. Maybe it's a cult - I don't know. Porsche ownership is a cult too in some respects. But speaking of writing, I must say Microsoft Office is an overblown joke, and Apple's Pages is much better. Too bad Microsoft refuses to play nicely with Apple on this front. But I don't bemoan having to use Office in almost every facet of my job. |
