That's cause Apple listened to you and underestimated the demand.

Estimates are somewhere around 350,000 were pre-ordered.

That doesn't make any sense. If the product is ready to go, you ship and you fill orders in the order received.

You only delay shipping when the product has a problem. Maybe the magifying glass is delaminating. Maybe the iPhone on the inside breaks loose and starts to rattle around.

Maybe they're having a tough time finding enough big 1024-by-768-pixel screens? :D

Seriously, that cracked me up, when I read that. (1024x768) ...My cellphone has half as many pixels, but isn't a half square-foot of of display face either. (like the iPad)

I suppose the fanboys are getting old now, and need the big course display. But sheesh, with arthritic hands, how are they supposed to hold that thing for very long? --no kickstand . . no keyboard base to stabilize it. As tablets go (and I've owned a lot of them) the iPad is looking weak. OTOH, it does appear that it would make a good active picture frame (wall/cubicle mounted w/ double-stick tape)

I'm an admitted Apple fan boy, but the iPad misses the mark for me. I use Macintosh computers exclusively because I love the OS. The iPad doesn't run the Mac OS! I like the idea of the iPad, but it needs a real OS. The iPhone OS is great...for a PHONE. I am not interested in a tablet running a cell phone OS.

Thats strange - I got an email this morning that my iPad has shipped UPS and will be delivered on or before Saturday.

We get it: You don't like Apple, Apple products or the people that buy Apple products.

Did you actually read the article? Island's insinuation is misleading.

Those who pre-ordered before 27Mar will get them on-time. Those who ordered after that will get them later because they ran out of production.

I have it on my phone, but that is a little small to read on the bandstand (though it has already saved my at a couple of gigs). WIth the iPad, I can carry all my charts as well as lyrics sheets, etc. No more hauling around multiple 3-ring binders to gigs.

I must have also missed Island's insinuation. Could you point it out for us?

Perhaps I should have said "accidental" - the Yahoo link has the insinuation.

Then again, as Shaun said, you love to take the piss out of Apple and their users. Duly noted.
