All driven '66/67 fairlanes and comets 2 door pillerless coupes rip at the c-piller/body.

The 289 cars rip 1/2" the 390 cars seem to rip 3/4" and the 427's rip further.

As for 3,000 pounds I seem to remember it as being a bit portlier.

My first car ever was a 289 car and the second was the the 390 car. I do miss the 390 car!

A buddy of mine had a 68 Fairlane with a warmed over 302.
It was plenty quick enough for a young fella with a brand new drivers license.
That was a really nice car and he sold it after he was married. He still pines for that car.

Agree with your idea on going bigger but how about a 428 or so?

You got me there, have never worked on a lot of the big American Iron. Switched to foreign stuff as a kid and never looked back.

Well, with the 428 engine all of the bolt sizes make sense and they're no sharp edges on the sheet metal to cut yourself on,

Every single part is to say the least MAN sized.

Everything makes sense OTHER than the push-rods running through the intake and that STUPID hose that can't be replaced with out removing the water pump.

I like the 429/460 series engine due to the above idiot engineering being removed and the ports are large enough to drop tennis balls down.

Finished it this summer.
289 with some High performance parts and machining. works pretty good and will be my daily driver next summer.
Added a strong sway bar up front and converted it to Disc brakes up front as well.
