do you like johnny cash?
if you are a dedicated fan of the man in black it would be a good idea to tune in to turner classic movies at 2 am eastern time tonight.
they are showing a movie called "five minutes to live" , alternately known as "door to door maniac". johnny cash as a stone cold killer. also look for a young ron howard (opie taylor or richie cunningham). enjoy. |

We're big fans in my house. My daughter has been requesting that I put in the Johnny Cash CD since she was about 2 1/2. She's 4 now and sings along w/ half of the songs.

I'm not a big fan but I do like his work... My favorite is his version of "Hurt" which ironically was written by an alt rock guy... (Trent Reznor)

His music was good but not what I would call great.
After learning more about the person, I see no reason to immortalize him. Sure his upbringing and early years sucked but how big of a screw-up can a guy be? He did just about everything wrong. You compare him with Elvis and you see a whole different spectrum. Elvis screwed up too, but much of that was because of his isolation from the real world and the parasites who lived off the host. Deep down Elvis was a good and decent man. I can't say the same about cash. He was trailer trash with the morals of an alley cat. They had one thing in common, hot women. Priscilla and June Carter. Both very nice with the nod going to Priscilla. She was hot with brains and class. ![]() |

He had his demons and shortcomings, like all of us.
After he met June Carter, he walked straight. He had great talent, and I love his work. Sammy, seriously, do you have acid in your veins? I can not remember anything short of heinous coming from your keyboard. |

Not all the familiar with JC - the few songs I heard I haven't cared for. A friend loaned me his final album 'American V' and other than one or two songs I just didn't get into it. Admittedly I'm probably letting my negative bias toward him as a person muddy his musical offerings but well...there it is.
